The Tarkin novel has a similar situation. You should read it. Basically an early cell of the Rebel Alliance recovered some Separatist ships including some sort of cruiser and launched an attack on an Imperial base. They eventually steal Tarkin’s personal corvette which has stealth capability and cause havoc.
