I'm pretty sure that when they were making the special editions, there was a lot of talk and publicity of the celebrations on Coruscant being a special sneak preview of one of the 'exciting new planets' that will feature prominently in the prequals, but I guess this would only mean something to those that were in the know.
Actually I only recall them mentioning that once. "So in a way, the last shot of the old trilogy, is actually the first shot of the new trilogy." Something of that nature. AS cool as it was at the time, it still peevs me that my first glimpse of Coruscant outside of my mind's eye was of it doing something that defied all logic and canon.
