I grew up watching the two made-for-tv Ewok films and I have always enjoyed them very much. I still have COC on VHS! I know there was a 2004 release on DVD that included both films on one reversible disc (these go for 90+ USD plus shipping on ebay). I have never had the opportunity to see the 2004 release myself. Wondering if anyone knows whether the release was in widescreen or if it was still just 4:3? (I suspect it is)
Are there any fan preservations out there that are being worked on (or already finished) in HD and in widescreen? Any info appreciated. You all are my heroes
EDIT: PS… wasn’t sure if this would qualify for the “Star Wars Preservations” section or if it should be posted in the “Other Preservations” section… If I made the wrong call, happy to repost this in Other

I guess that is the obvious place to start. Thanks!

Man if I knew these would skyrocket in prices. I bought one for like 10 euros 10 years ago and haven’t even watched them. Not sure why the high demand.

Long out of print + renewed Star Wars mania.
Where were you in '77?
I’d wager that most of the demand comes from people like me who grew up on them. I still think there fantastic films. If you didn’t grow up on them though… You may not make it past the 8 minute mark. And for that I cannot blame you

It’s a shame that the theatrical cuts are not legally available 😦
I thought the DVD was the theatrical cuts? There were definitely minute differences between my old VHS off air recording of Battle For Endor and the Laserdisc.

They are ALMOST the theatrical cuts, but there are some small changes.
Caravan of Courage / An Ewok Adventure : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087225/alternateversions
The Battle for Endor : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089110/alternateversions
Of course assuming that imdb and several other sources are correct.
I will have to rewatch the Laserdiscs one of these days. (I’m curious how they will look cropped since they probably were shown that way in theaters overseas.) I know the closing credits on TBFE are different.

That can be said on many SW things, it doesn’t mean they’re suddenly worth a million. My point was considering how crappy these were. I don’t think Droids, Ewoks cartoons or CW had that kind of rise in price.

Some fans may have warm fuzzy nostalgia for watching these when they aired like some of us have for the Holiday Special.

The movies are crap. But highly enjoyable crap if you’re in the correct mood.
There are images all over Google of the 2004 double feature dvd cover insert, however they’re all terrible resolution. If anyone could help find a hires version that would be dope.
In the meantime I’ll keep looking around. Thanks!
