Blu-Ray and other HD box size STAR WARS covers — Page 25

-No I used a Color photocopier, only because I had to print onto 11x17 paper
-I used cardstock
-Didn’t back it with anything, but in retrospect, I could have made the box using construction paper or even a cereal box, then glue the heavier cardboard to that.
-I don’t think Staples can print on a heavy cardstock as it doesn’t have enough bend to go thru the copier. There are some heavier paper that can work, but not cardstock.

Used:
Photoshop
X-acto blade
Packing tape
Rubber Cement
Wax Paper

-Basically, I started by creating a template using an existing 3 dvd Bourne boxset. This boxset was made of cardstock equal in thickness to a cereal box. This would create a single piece that would be folded to form the box and the wrapping. But since I, wanted a “beefier” box I used a heavier Cardstock.

template!

-Based on this template, I overlaid all the images. Using Photoshop.
-I printed out the template & traced over the cardstock & also made some cut lines for the folds. Unfortunately the cardstock was too thick to make a decent box. The shape was off.

box!

This would have worked with thinner paper.

-The next attempt was to measure the Front/Back/Top/Bottom of the Boxset.
-Cut out all the panels using the thicker cardstock. Assemble the box, taping the corners.
-Decide how you want to wrap the box. I chose to do it with 2 pieces.
-One piece to cover the Front/Top/Back
-One piece to cover the Spine/Bottom.
-Based on this I created a template using the measurements to accomplish this.
-Glue the printed sides to the box. I suggest using Rubber Cement. And use it the correct way! Wax Paper is the KEY. Wax paper will NOT stick to dry Rubber Cement.
-Work on one side @ a time.
-Put RC on both sides, BOX & WRAP, let it dry.
-Put a couple of pieces wax paper between the two, line up the image on the Box, slowly pull out one piece of Wax paper.
-Once secure, pull out the other piece. At the very least try having some wax paper on hand to keep the two separated. Once the two dry sections touch, they’re glued!

Good luck!

I am working on a own BluRay Set…
<iam using the Posters I grew up with for that set… also the Original german Titles, I want to add Booklets and a nice Box Layout.
Right now i have only an very early unfinished preview of the BluRay Covers

I would also do an localized english Version for the Members of this Board if anybody would be interested.

can’t wait the hear your Feedback.
I realize that there are other Covers that use the same Elements as mine, but I tried to give them some personal details.
Also I always loved that ESB Cover, that nobody has used here before (I think…).
Hope you like them!

I very much dig those (EXCEPT for the odious German-language labeling), just looking at them strikes a note deep inside me. So did you get around doing a version with the original titles?

Hi guys sorry if this has been previously discussed, but I’m a real fan of the standard despecialized covers. I know there are loads of great artworks out there, but for me these just fit really well, if not the best. Literally the only problem being is that all the info for the audio and subtitles are from v1. Are there any plans to update them to v2 and would anybody be willing to edit them?

Cheers!

EDIT: By “standard” if I’m not mistaken I mean @spheretronic’s incredible work, which was so good, it made Harmy swear.

Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

Hey, as I said those Covers are not 100% finished yet (for example we sourced a better Version of the Empire Cover that I will have to clean up)… They are more or less previews.
unfortunately some other Projects came in the way so that I will need more time as planned to finish the Project. 😦

BUT! If you want them - I can send you the Covers as they are with english titles… They already look nice and have a good Quality - I already printed them for myself.
I think that would be the Best way to go… you can always change them later when i upload the final Version anyway 😉

would you want german or english Text on the back?
I used the Text from the first German VHS Version for those Covers and It would take some time to find fitting english Versions.

Hey There,

Heres an update of my custom set. Finally got the positioning right to fit the covers perfectly in the 15mm Criterion Blu-ray boxes and was able to track down some higher resolution art for the back. As for the inside/reverse, I printed them with the Noriyoshi Ohrai collage style prints. All in all, pretty happy with the results. Hope you enjoy.

Made this for Hal9000’s prequel edits. It’s designed after OnlyOneKenobi’s original DVD design.

Hey these are AMAZING! Almost just like the VHS copies I had as a kid! And it’s awesome that you have versions for AVCHDs and Blu-rays too!

Might it be possible for you to post versions with a standard DVD logo on the spine?

LYou know, like this or some variant of it?:

I realize this is a fairly old post, but I didn’t think it would hurt to ask

Thanks!

I have been waiting patiently for over a month now for a response from Coov and Video Collector for their covers. If anyone has their contact info, can you please shoot them a quick pm, because I am starting to get concerned if they are still around or not.

Video Collector graciously allowed me to have a copy of his Minimal covers and Struzan covers.

I played around with them a bit, as I am making a birthday gift for my Dad. I may still work on them, but I think they’ve turned out beautifully so far. (NOTE: He asked me not to distribute his work, so I can’t give you a copy directly.)

JEDIT: I don’t know if you can see it properly up there, but the subtitles on the prequel spines look like this:

Hal’s is yellow, not green, because his “official” covers have a yellow background, and the Cloak of Deception covers have a battle droid on them which I wanted to utilize.

Hi there.

I just have to say I am truly awed by the work in this thread as well as other threads in this forum. It has also lead me to devianart, which also contains some fantastic stuff! I had no idea there was such a devotion to Star Wars covers.

While I love everyone’s work, I somehow feel guilty asking or using them. Instead you all have inspired me to work on creating my own using Photoshop, like I have never used it before! There is definitely a great sense of accomplishment creating your own, personal work vs using someone else’s. NOT that there is anything wrong with that. Some may not have the talent (like me) or the software.

That being said everyone’s work is art that deserves to hang on any Star Wars fan’s wall!

Kudos to everyone

How did you manage to find a version of the poster without Luke and Leia on it?!

Cover

A cover for the DeEd I made while tired. It has the opening crawls on the back, and a Force Awakens-style Original Trilogy logo with the font used for the logo of my personal favorite movie (props to whoever recognizes it) and has “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…” on the top of the back, which came directly from the DeEd.
PM me for the actual cover.
Please don’t redistribute.
