I always thought he was just really old, and that he aged poorly do to the dark side corrupting him. I mean, he was the pinnacle of evil, so I just think that the dark side warped him. Same thing with force lightning. I’d have to agree with Plinkett, that force lightning was something he could use because he was so utterly evil, that the dark side of the force lived inside of him. Not because he reached level 12 sith power.
