The creature is in the film, its name is not. So yes, you brought it up.
And as I keep saying, canon is what you make of it, not what a corporation tells you it is.
Friendly reminder that the words “Ewok” or “Ewoks” are never said in ROTJ.
They were marketed so much both when the original film came out and when the SE made it to theatres that it became a household term. Even Oprah had a guy dressed as an ewok on her show back in the 90s (amongst other characters) when the SEs came out. It’s a bit different than to not know who Yarna d’al’ Gargan is.
