but that screen displays in binary...the only reason for it is because sound doesnt travel in space so luke cant hear him...

but seriously, even in all the scenes that you dont get translation for artoo's beeps you can pretty much tell basically what he's saying (as can the characters)

*edit, besides him not talking is a good thing. At least he wont get annoying like threepio

i know it wasnt binary, that was a joke but i always thought basic was essentially english...i dunno though.

wasnt the screen in the same language that they changed the death star tractor beam controls to in ANH? i didnt think that was refered to as basic. according to a site with the changes its called Aurabesh
