The same game those floor textures come from.

I’m sorry but those floors are real. Look at her feet. No greenscreen compositing/whatever to be seen.

One thing I cannot complain about PT is certainly CGI. It was very good.

Shot of the Star Destroyers is nice though.

That’s because they’re flat textures and lack color. That sort of thing is always more believable.

And when I mentioned previously how well-liked TFA is, that wasn’t specific to OT.com. That was about the general public. I don’t think I’ve talked to anyone in reality that has disliked the film, and most people here seemed to enjoy it. That IMDB page also backs to up. Sure, ‘great’ may be pushing it a little, so I will give you that.

I have a funny feeling that you’re not going to believe me, but I saw it in theaters with my old man who LOVES the OT, and he absolutely hated it.
The mood of the crowd leaving the theater was decidedly deflated as well.

That’s not too surprising. The film isn’t really anything like the OT.

The mood of the crowd leaving the theater was decidedly deflated as well.

This is definitely hard to believe. You may have just been influenced by your father’s impression.

No, the crowd was VERY subdued compared to any other mass appeal movie i’ve gone to recently.

I swear I’m being honest, people were much more pumped after watching ROTS when I went back in '05.

It varied in my viewings. 2/4 times it got a nice applause and it felt cheery after it ended. The other 2 times I was either blasting Bathory or was too distracted with talking to my sister to care.

Also what does your dad’s opinion have to do with anything? He’s but one person.

Only that he’s a die hard SW fan who watched the OT once a day for a month straight once.

That’s still only one person’s opinion and don’t you think his love of the OT would somehow interfere with his enjoyment of TFA? That seems to be a thing with people who are fanatical about the OT.

That’s not the issue. He enjoys the prequels. He really likes 1 and 3 and likes 2 up until the droid factory scene.

Then show me a film with better CGI at that time…

Lord of the Rings trilogy. Minority Report. Gladiator. The Matrix. Pirates of the Caribbean. Armageddon. King Kong. The Fifth Element. Titanic. Independence Day.

Not that I like CGI and not that those films don’t have some flawed shots but there’s quite a few that have better work than the Prequels in the late 90s/early 2000s. The first Matrix especially, hasn’t dated at all (It helped that a lot was practical).

VIZ TOP TIPS! - PARENTS. Impress your children by showing them a floppy disk and telling them it’s a 3D model of a save icon.

The first Matrix’s effects look awful now. I love the movie but come on. And other than LOTR, all the movies you mentioned have comparable CG to the prequels.
Hell, Coruscant looks better than The Fifth Element’s NYC.

It bl**dy well should do 😉

‘The Fifth Element’ was made 2 years earlier than TPM (and naturally 8 years earlier than ROTS) and cost $25million less.

Now post all the really dated stuff like the squidbots, the wall contracting when neo breathes, the civilian transforming into the agent, etc…

How so?

Yeah let’s not. Posting subjective screenshots is a waste of time and just clogs up the forum.

bad=subjective
good=objective
?

As for backtracking, you cited TFL as a movie with superior CG, yet you then agree that in a comparison of a central CG location of each film, the PT wins.

That’s not what those words mean.

Please provide evidence of me saying this.

There’s your evidence.

And as for your whole “subjective” garbage as far as the Matrix, I was commenting on your implication that your shots were proof and my suggestions were merely opinions.

I’m not seeing it. That was just you quoting what I said, not what you said I said.

Are you perhaps reading my posts in an alternate dimension? e.g. I haven’t even posted any “shots”???
