Exactly. If I can do those things, why do I need 3PO? We know he doesn't do domestic things like cleaning. And, somehow, I don't think I'd trust him with cooking. R2, on the other hand, I would have installed with a digital video recorder so he could playback shows with his holographic projector. Since he's an AI based robot, he would know to start recording a show right at the beginning and end whenever it actually ends since TV networks don't seem to follow the "on the half hour/on the hour" programming rules anymore. I would trust 3PO to do such things, yes. I'd trust him to cook, he's not incompetent, he's just misenderstood and sometimes a coward. He would not be afraid to cook or to clean up the house. And about R2, you would use it as a tivo? And how would you plug him in your computer? I'm not sure he has a USB2 port. And you wouldn't be able to understand what he says... I say 3PO, for sure.
