Moth3r's OT.com forum enhancement filter!

Author
Time
Currently beta testing... but I guarantee that this will make your OT.com forum experience more enjoyable!

1. Download and install the "Proxomitron" web-filtering proxy.
http://www.proxomitron.info/files/index.html
(This program is primarily intended to block adverts, pop-up scripts, etc.. Luckily, here at OT.com we don't have such annoyances, so in the guide below I've recommended that these options are not needed.)

2. Set the program up as follows:

http://img199.exs.cx/img199/2876/image16oq.jpg
(To use web filtering only.)

http://img199.exs.cx/img199/9442/image28al.jpg
(Deactivate all the default filters - they could potentially cause problems with other sites if you leave them active.)

Click on "New" to create a new filter:

http://img194.exs.cx/img194/5461/image30qi.jpg
Copy and paste the following text into the "Matching Expression" box:
<table border="0" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="0" width="97%">*<b>DanielB</b>[br]*<img src="i/dominant/trans.gif" border="0" height="2" width="1">[br]

:: EDIT - Damn forum software. You need to manually change the square brackets in the two instances of [br] above to HTML-style braces < >.

leave the "Replacement Text" blank.

Ensure this new filter is active, and press OK.

3. Set your browser to use a proxy server for HTTP; use the address "localhost" and port "8080".
(Should work equally as well with IE or Firefox).

4. Make sure Proxomitron is running, and continue to browse the forum. If everything is working, you should find your enjoyment of the forum is substantially enhanced. Please post your testimonials below...

Thanks Moth3r. Seems to have worked for me. I can finally enjoy reading these forums again (with the help of Zion).

I rarely post but I love the work that is being done and shared here. I have learned a lot from these forums. Keep up the great work everyone, time to go back to lurking....

Holy crap. I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it for myself. Wonderous!

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

This, like PMs, is something that should be automatically turned on when a new member applies (and some current members should use it as well. ) Can we make this a sticky?

<span class=“Italics”>MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
<span class=“Bold”>JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.</span></span>

<span class=“Italics”>MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
<span class=“Bold”>Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.</span></span>

<span class=“Italics”>JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.</span>

Wow.... too not have to endure the mind numbing drivel from that turd is a revelation. Thanks and great work!

The Threads will be pure again

It unfortunataly doesn't work with 100% of his posts. I think quotes block the filtering in some way.

A new release of Star Wars is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get.

Hi Wer-Al_Zwowe!

Nice signature... but it's mine already.....
Do, or do not. There is no try.

But he has no comma after do.

Do you mean that if someone quotes him then you can still see the quoted text of his post? Just tell the offending poster not to quote him!

I've also noticed that the "byte limit" needs to be increased to block some of the really long posts.

I think it's the byte limit. I was refering to a rather long post with DanielB quoting someone else.

I think its time this was bumped again. This forum may not have an ignore list yet, so here's the next best thing.
After seeing too many threads derailed by boris - why the hell did the Star Wars HD thread turn into verbal diarrhoea about Jurassic Park and LOTR? - I've had to start running this again. I recommend other people who feel the same do too.

Follow the above instructions but use this line in the "Matching Expression" box:

<table border="0" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="0" width="97%">*<b>boris</b>[br]*<img src="i/dominant/trans.gif" border="0" height="2" width="1">[br]

You might want to up the byte limit.

Guaranteed to clean away 99% of the technical misinformation/bullshitting posted to this site.

Because Boris is nothing more than an pathetic little troll who gets his jollies by derailing threads....what kind of person does that? What a loser.
Thanks for bumping this thread, as long as the mods put up with him, we'll need something like this....

I love everybody. Lets all smoke some reefer and chill. Hug and kisses for everybody.

Didn't expect to have to do this again so soon:

Follow the above instructions but use this line in the "Matching Expression" box:

<table border="0" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="0" width="97%">*<b>timbox129</b>[br]*<img src="i/dominant/trans.gif" border="0" height="2" width="1">[br]

Bye bye tim.

Although I doubt this'll be needed soon as the sock timbox seems to be on a mission to get itself banned.
