This isn’t about poor designs in the OT, that’s why I said the speeders aren’t the same thing. I definitely realize the many problems the OT had, hence mentioning the Falcon. The point is that TIE fighters were already designed almost 40 years ago, and now they are adding a function that it wasn’t designed to hold.
