Idea: The Prequel Loose Canon Edits

The Prequel Trilogy Remixed

Just recently I have decided I will be working on the Prequel Trilogy as separate movies again. I want to keep the huge scope of the Star Wars saga and the stories each movie provided. However I still want to change the movies enough for them to be good. This edits will radically change the movies yet loosly stick to the canon of the PT so they won’t clash with further installments

Intentions:

Firstly, the pacing will be quicker and any huge political undertones will be trimmed down. I aim for each movie to be roughly 80-100 minutes long.

I also want these movies to have secrecy. I plan to make the Darth Vader reveal a secret so you can watch the movies I’m chronological order. I’ll do this removing Anakins link with Vader all together. I will so have to remove Anakins link to Obi Wan as master and apprentice. This is so we assume Vader was Obi Wans apprentice who turned evil in between III and IV.

I intend to keep the films fairly humurous as well as dark, all I’m the right places. But in general any cheesy moments will be edited.

Some key elements changed in this film also. Like Grievous not weildimg a lightsaber, Anakins being reintroduced as Padme’s protector after Episode I and Order 66 not occurring until after Episode III, leaving the entire Trilogy on a cliff hanger.

I will go further into the changes of each movie. But for now I hope the ideas I’ve given will make good edits to watch.

Yeah I believe you saw the post when I accidentally sent it in the first paragraph. But yeah, I will use another name for them. As long as I remember how to change thread names…

Thanks, do you know how to change the thread title? I just want to give it a generic title for now until I come up with a name.

Your ideas seem quite radical, so I am interested in how are you planning to achieve them. Will you be creating new footage? Unfortunately I won’t be adding new footage to them; I just need to use some clever editing to get what I want. But luckily there still will be enough content to make 3 movies. AOTC will probably be the shortest due to all that’s being left out but I won’t let it drop under the 80 minute mark.

Episode I specific plans:

The crawl will be edited so it will say how there was peace in the galaxy until the Seperatists and the Federation joined forces. I will say that they need Naboo for a base. However the Jedi have been dispatched the sneek onto the planet and rescue the Queen from signing the treaty.

So the opening battle is cut. The jedi enter the battleship and sneek onto a landing craft. Then we cue the invasion montage.

Now Jar Jar will be in this film and will play a small role. He is a runaway since the rest of the Gungans have decided to fight off the drioid army early. He gets rescued by the jedi and his new purpose is the serve them. However we see that the Gungans actually lose the battle, leaving Jar Jar with a lot of guilt for not fighting with them. This will lead to him later on in the film giving Palpatine the power to make a Clone army. Therefore his motives for doing it arent because he was smooth talked, it was because his whole race was was taken out.

All the underwater stuff will be cut.

Padme is generally the Queen’s handmaiden. I hate how she was secretly the Queen for 1 movie. It adds nothing. I would sympathise more if she was this young girl who serves a much older Queen.

Anakin in my saga will change. He is not the chosen one, he’s the complete opposite. The movie kinda gives off to me that the jedi don’t really trust Qui Gon. So for him to come to the order with a boy and say that he’s this vergance, no one will believe him. Anakin of course will be less cocky from the get-go and will build his confidence.

Darth Sidious will be cut since I plan to make his first appearance at the end of Episode II as a reveal that Palpatine is Sidious.

Jabba is cut since he’s portrayed as a good guy and it shrinks the planet down.

Coruscant will be changed around. Palpatine is already Chancellor so we have no “vote of no confidence” scene or the Queen talking to Palpatine scene. We have Jar Jar as a witness to the invasion pleeing to give Palpatine powers. Then Palpatine declares an army will be ordered (just in time for Episode II). The scene where Anakin is denied because he’s too old is cut also.

The end battle how is more focused without the Gungan battle. Anakin also purposely flies the ship into battle making him more of a underdog then a fool.

However at the end. Due to his reckless nature, he doesn’t become Obi Wans apprenrintice. Both jedi go there separate ways. Anakin asks “what’s gonna happen to me now” and Obi Wan doesn’t reply.

Hopefully this will all work out since these ideas personally could make this film much better then it was 😃
