Just posting this here in case it hasn’t been mentioned yet.

When Luke climbs down into the Quad Laser Turret, the first frame is a duplication of the second frame except for a very odd cutout of Luke’s hair and some highlight detail from the correct frame. Very odd.

I’m a bit confused as to what the second image is. Is this from the silver screen edition or something new that has been mocked up? The two frames shown are the first frame in the shot from their respective releases?

Edit: I’ve pulled up the blu-ray and that does seem like the case.

The shadow on the left still moves. What it looks like they’ve done take the second frame, shift Luke’s body a few pixels (stretching his arms very slightly), as well as cut out the hair and shadow from the real first frame. Presumably there was some sort of major damage that occurred to the negative? The hair and shadow in frame 1 are extremely blue compared to frame 2. I know sometimes the color is off in ‘glue frames’ but presumably they had a lot of that to deal with in their restoration. There must have been some other major damage right over the top of Luke, except for the hair. And they decided that leaving the hair and shadow was enough for our eyes to approximate as movement. Or perhaps the frame was lost entirely, so they took those elements from positive prints.

Really cool, weird catch.
