Edit: Also, to clarify your faq/notes: v1.5 is to be the same as far as the video goes, right? Just extra audio tracks and different formats. This thing is essentially finished?

Honestly, there may be a few minor tweaks here and there, but unless we point them out or you compare frame by frame I doubt you’ll notice them.

Wow! Looks great! Until I can make a new version of Despecialized (and this will be an invaluable asset in doing that) I would definitely recommend Team Negative 1’s version over Despecialized v2.5.

If Team Negative1 doesn’t mind, I may potentially like to use this for my custom blu-ray project which has to this point used Harmy’s v2.5 as its source. Would this be a problem with the Team? If not I understand and will continue as I was.

Feel free to use it in your project.

Just make sure the proper credits are given.

Thanks Harmy,

You’ve been a big part in giving us some publicity. We appreciate your comments.

We anticipate great things for the future, and there will be more news about it soon.

I was thinking about saying the above on my facebook page but I’m not sure what your distribution channels are and whether you wanted to go so public (currently nearly 27,000 people on the page).
I could put it up on tehparadox, if you wanted.

Harmy,

Please do. We want the word and the news to spread.

Thanks.

OK, I’ll put it on teh and then make a post saying I recommend this instead of DEEDv2.5 and it can be found the same way as Despecialized 😃

This is pretty incredible. Thanks for making it happen.

Luke threw twice…maybe.

Is there anyway to get a myspleen invite or am I SOL until this surfaces on the newsgroups?

I’m watching this now. Ideally I would get my hands on a Blu Ray burner rather than running it to my TV from my laptop (the latter of which has difficulties playing 1080p video), and those damned reel change marks still irk me, but this is a truly breathtaking preservation.

Things that really stand out to me: high definition shots of certain models or optical composites (like the Tantive IV being overtaken by the Star Destroyer–previously it could only be seen as a digital composite in the official version or GOUT-sourced in Harmy’s. Now it’s in its full, high res glory).

I often play the Star Wars movies on my laptop at night to lull me to sleep. It will be nice to have a version so authentic.

This is awesome! People working together instead of having egos collide. Nice work to both! I’m looking forward to checking this out.

It’s hard to believe that this can happen. Thanks to all involved. You deserve medals! I only wish I was not currently in China, It’ll take me weeks to download with my VPN connection. The net here is 90% blocked and 99% slow. Add a VPN into the mix and it’s the dark ages.

Of note… Every member of my family, young and old, has the Harmy Despecialized editions of the Trilogy (I usually gifted on b-days or Xmas). Now I am spreading them around China and have gifted them to over a dozen so far. STAR WARS is not all that well known here so I want everyone to see it properly. Looks like I have another version to start gifting. 😃

My girlfriend’s 11 year old son had watched the official Blu-Ray versions (from bootlegs, since there is no such thing as legal here) and liked the films. Last month I showed him the Despecialized versions and he thoroughly enjoyed them. We saw TFA last week so I wanted him properly prepped. Too bad is mother is bored to tears by the SW films. 😦

Thank you guys so much for all your hard work!
I hope all this attention from Facebook won’t bring the legal hammer down from Lucasfilm/Disney. But I also hope if they’re aware of this that they understand why it was necessary and that all of us who really care about the original cuts of these films will still gladly buy an official release if/when it’s ever available.

I’ve been lurking on this thread for a long time now… I can’t believe you guys pulled this off! Thank you so much for all your effort and hard work!

Now… how can I download it? I’m dying to watch it!

Thanks!

Of course! We’re all just trying to get the best possible version of Star Wars here and that’s all that matters!
And I’m sure, even with v3.0 of DeEd, this will stay great many people’s preferred version, because it’s beautifully authentic, and that’s awesome! There’s no competition here 😃
