Supreme Leader Snoke: Origins — Page 2

According to the Art of TFA book, they considered making Snoke female. Palpatine repeatedly referred to Plagueis using male pronouns.

That would have been pretty cool. A female lead and a female puppet master.

A lot of what Palpatine told Anakin could have been a pack of lies with a tiny grain of truth. This is the guy who told him he killed Padme after all. Not to mention implying he knew how to cheat death, and when Anakin has taken the bait, Palpy is all “well, I’m sure we can learn how to do it”.

I’ll bet that bastard never even brought it up again.

Oddly enough, the more I think of it, the more I wouldn’t mind if Snoke was Plagueis. It’s a prequelism, but one could easily look past that. It’s not hard to believe that the Emperor would have a master. If midiclorians are discussed, ew, but I doubt they’d do that. If its revealed he’s the real puppet master behind Palpatine all along, ew, but it could easily be that Palps wounded him (in a murder attempt) and he’s been hiding since, waiting for his chance or something like that.

Retconning the PT is not an issue, as Palpatine could have been lying easily or might not even had known he was dead. Overwriting the EU is not an issue.

The reason why I’d be okay with it is because realistically who is Snoke? If he’s supposed to be the new big bad, he sort of needs to be at least on the same level as Palpatine for him to seem an imposing villain and the ultimate evil of the trilogy. So, if he’s on the same level as Palpatine (and has all this dark side knowledge) where did he come from? That he was the Sith lord who trained Palpatine is as good an explanation as any, and the fact that he’s already been established helps reduce the random factor (some might say there should be a random factor, but to me if this big huge bad is just some rando dude that came out of nowhere it doesn’t feel quite right, when you look at the saga as a whole).

For the record though I’d say he most likely is not Plagueis.

Why would Palpatine lie about Plagueis’s gender?

Not the gender part. Or else Episode 9 is going to turn into The Crying Game. 😉

As I said before I don’t think Snoke is actually Plagueis, but if that were the case it could be an element of his character that was conceived later. It could even, hypothetically, be something Rian Johnson conceived that was then infused into TFA. We just don’t know at this point, not just whether Snoke is Plagueis but Snoke’s backstory at all. TFA is vague enough on it that whatever preconception as to his origins when making that film could be changed when making the next.

[Spoilers] During my first TFA viewing I thought that the Snoke hologram was going to turn out to be a Great And Powerful Hux projection: an ancient-looking disguise with an air of authority that would allow the youthful-appearing Hux to give orders to the First Order and KR. (“Pay no attention to the Hux behind the curtain”). However, I was surprised to see a later scene that showed Hux speaking one-on-one alone to the Snoke hologram, so that theory would only work if Hux were a sort of Dr.-Hux-And-Mr.-Snoke split personality. That would be quite a stretch.

Complete with Poe taking a plunger to his mouth.

Fixed that for you. 😉

I dreamed that I was watching an Old Republic and in it Snoke creates the first Sith by luring Jedi into some sort of hell, the entrance to this hell being located on Moraband.

I thought Holocrons stored recordings and other information. Snoke clearly isn’t a recording since he’s talking about real time events in TFA to both Kylo Ren and Hux.

If it works like Jor-El/Kal-El in Superman, then Snoke could be someone who’s dead. I just think it would be a bit convoluted. But not 100% impossible.
He could also be a Force Ghost, but in this case why using a hologram and not just appearing as a ghost? (to hide the fact he’s a ghost? Convoluted, also)
So, for now and until we have more proofs, I just think about Snoke as someone who is alive.
Probably Plagueis (to somehow wrap the whole saga. I’m all for it).

My biggest fear would be that Snoke is Rey’s father (he only looks weird because of his injuries. He looks to me like he could be a human). If it’s the case then Episode VIII will somehow plays along the lines of Empire, like TFA played with ANH. And I want Episode VIII to tell us something as new and fresh as possible. ANOTHER family reveal, no thanks.
EDIT: that’s said, it would maybe be more intersting than if she’s Luke’s daughter.

Snoke being Plagueis wouldn’t be bad but if they made him out to be a puppet master instead of someone who disappeared and waited that would suck, IMO

I heard a theory yesterday that Snoke was Leia and to be honest if Carrie Fisher got burned in the face those two could be twins
