The edits for the 5.1 mix are nearly finished. Only a few small changes left to make, and then listening tests to check for any errors. These might have been completed already, but I went to Tucson for the weekend to help out at the studio, which delayed me somewhat.
I should be completely finished by next week if nothing else occurs to slow me down. As with ESB, this new 5.1 will be a somewhat subtle yet quite significant improvement over the previous version. I’m certainly pleased with how it sounds at this point.

I recently watched your ANH and ESB edits, and they’re great. You should see if you can get a deal with Disney to release them as the official OT, lol. Or at least mail copies of them to Lucaas with a note on them that says “They exist!”

Thanks for doing this Harmy! I’ll patiently wait for the v2.0, just watched the bluray a month ago and, well, let’s just say I’m tired of all these Lucas additions -_- Hayden force ghost was just the hit in the gut in the end.
Your previous Despecialized editions are amazing, so thanks for that as well!

All edits for the 5.1 are now finished. I’ve done everything I can think of to make it great, and I’m really happy with the way it sounds. To me the improvement over the previous version is pretty substantial, though it’s mostly apparent in the small details of how everything blends together, but I like it much better.
All that’s left now to do is record the upmix (a real-time process) and add the LFE; then after one final listening check, encode to 5.1 and upload it. My brain is currently exhausted from listening to these things on endless repeat for the past few weeks, so I’m going to take a day off to recharge before I finalize it. But it won’t be long now, folks.

Why is the ROTJ mkv smaller than the SW and Empire files (~ 7Gb compared to ~20Gb)?

The workprint is amazing. I loved the new film sources Harmy! Even with the telecine jidder.
Lapti nek looks so clear now. Night and day between V1 and the workprint! Everyone has mentioned the subtitles and that really is the only issue I have. Maybe some stabilization on the film elements, but as is it looks fantastic.
I was so happy to show this version on my pre force awakens Star Wars marathon party. And I got a couple more friends interested in your efforts. I am amazed at the efforts yourself and everyone at original trilogy do. 5 years ago I was perusing the idea of making my own hybrid GOUT/special edition to restore the original Star Wars to the highest quality version like Metropolis the complete version accomplished, but your Despecialized went above and beyond! Thank you for your work!

I’ve never even seen Harmy’s v1.0 of ROTJ so I’m pretty excited to watch 2.0. In fact, I don’t think I’ve even seen v2.0 of ANH and ESB.
