This seems as good a place as any to ask, so I will. Even if Lucasfilm butchered the original negatives to make the SE, shouldn’t second generation internegatives exist somewhere? I know those wouldn’t have the same amount of detail as the true negative, but wouldn’t those be good enough for a standard Blu-ray? I shot a little bit of 16mm in school and never did anything with it beyond the work prints, but my understanding was that you want to manipulate the original negative as little as possible. Surely copies were made for the purpose of generating release prints?
