You two should write a fan script. Seems to be the only healthy way to get it out of your system. 😉

You can’t have that hate living inside of you. That leads to the Dark Side.

The Prequels, TFA, and the Thrawn Trilogy are the Dark Side.

Hahahahaha.

Honestly, you guys should go make a thread in the script/fanfiction forum where your discussion belongs, and let people with rational criticism have this thread. That way you’d be ignored just like you whine about wanting.

That’s not a bad idea! But I have an even better one!

What we can do is go ahead and make our fan film, then will post it here, and then you can come on and tell us how much you hate it and how stupid we are. Then we’ll use your ad hominem attacks, logic fallacies, and pseudo-intellectual, vain attempts at condescension to defend our movie!

What do you think? Pretty swell idea, right?

It was by far the weakest and confused as Rey had her own theme and Luke’s, it’s been said that JJ interfered with JW’s magic making and tbh a lot of it doesn’t appear to be his work?

If you’re talking about the use of “Burning Homestead,” that’s not Luke’s theme. Luke’s motif is actually the same as the opening crawl. If you watch ANH, you’ll notice this theme plays when Luke first appears (when Beru yells “Luke! Luke!”), when Luke gets up from the table and leaves (Beru says “he has too much of his father in him”), the shot of Luke walking inside the Lars homestead right after Binary sunset, when Luke is shooting at the Stormtroopers on the Death Star (Wilhelm scream) and gets out his grappling hook, and when Luke is the last one left in the Death Star trench after Wedge leaves (switching on his targeting computer).

Burning Homestead and Binary Sunset use the Force’s motif, which can also be heard when Ben first explains to Luke about the Force (“Vader was seduced by the Dark Side of the Force.” “The Force?”), when Ben gets that look on his face when he decides to sacrifice himself, and when his voice tells Luke to “use the Force” during the trench run, before switching to Luke’s motif when he switches off the targeting computer.

As much as I loved the movie, one thing felt odd.

The music isn’t that memorable, maybe it’s because I’ve only seen the film once so far but eh. I can remember Rey’s theme and that’s it, even the prequels soundtrack was more memorable and I find myself humming it once in a while.

I’m not saying the music was bad, but it isn’t memorable to me. I may end up loving and remembering it when I see it again and when I buy the soundtrack.

^I said this already 😄

Why? Because it’s not explained in every detail while the First Order launches an attack?

No. Because it just is.

And “because it’s not explained in every detail…”?

How about because it’s not explained at all?!

Perhaps it should have made it into the opening crawl…? 😉

Between the editing and the music, TFA reminds me of AOTC in a bad way. The music doesn’t sound right, important things are edited out, we don’t get a chance to see the environments, etc.

This is a genuine question, but what do people mean when a particular Star Wars film doesn’t have an expansive view of the environment/setting? Someone mentioned Empire being less impressive in comparison to ANH because of this in some other thread, and then above me, darklordoftech is echoing this complaint for TFA and AotC.

To me, this has been a weird observation for fans to say since to me, I never felt as if any Star Wars film, all seven, have felt off because of the setting/environment not being explored enough. These movies always take me to new and interesting places via the characters. I don’t need to see LotR type shots to sell me we’re in a different location. I dunno, despite all the times I’ve seen a majority of the Star Wars film over and over, this has been one of the, in my opinion, an odd complaint here on the OT forums. Someone explain this to me.

Lucas once said something about movies that make the error of spending time showing off their settings instead on getting on with the story.

That boggles the mind.

Immediately, I think to the Endor forest. It really felt excessive and there really wasn’t much to explore. Beautiful lush plants and great Redwoods, COOL, now… erm… you’re slowing me down ferns and logs. So again, I’m not sure why we need expansive views of the setting. Show off what makes that setting standout, don’t oversell it, and focus on our characters/story. Maybe I’m just Star Wars’ing wrongly here, but I wouldn’t consider it a fault in a Star Wars film if there’s less screen time dedicated to exploring these locations. Prime reason why ESB stands out to me for making its locations rather short and sweet enough to leave the rest to imagination and focused on our character’s development/story progression.

Is this the part where someone complains about the last location in TFA? (again)

I don’t think so… if I remember correctly, the next scene is Rey attempting to fix the ship and it becomes more of a scene between Finn and BB8, followed by the introduction of Han and Chewie to the film (which is definitely a scene stealer.) Even if there wasn’t a moment of character/ relationship development between Rey and Finn post Jakku escape, it would have been nice to take that moment to let everyone, audience included, breathe for a second. Most of the success of an action-packed film is knowing when to take a breath; I think that moment would have been an excellent opportunity.

Although, one could argue that the scene revealing the map is a good breather - which is true. However, I think that whole sequence, from the Escape from Jakku through the Arrival at Maz’s Castle, could have been edited differently to greater effect.

Ha, I didn’t even catch this. Now is when someone complains that we see too many environments, like the Maz world or the Luke world.

Speaking as someone who thought TFA was not so good, this thread is a disaster.

I would rather watch its participants performing anal acrobatics for two hours than read another word of it. Are you guys trying to be as ridiculous as possible on purpose, or can you really not help yourselves? If the former, then I congratulate you on the extremely convincing performance by all involved.

You’re welcome!

What were your specific complaints?

(regarding the movie, not the acrobatics)

THERE, THERE IT IS!

Frink’s newest chapter to The Ridiculous franchise comes Star Wars: The Ridiculousness Unwakens*! This ground breaking film will feature over 10, 000 lines of dialogue not seen in TFA! In fact, it will feature zero footage of TFA and instead showcase page after page of OT threads lovingly praising and utterly trashing TFA!
Also, a 2hr intermission of anal acrobatics.

*Yes, I know Frink originally thought to name his potential fanedit that title.
