Why does Han suddenly believe in the force?

Is it cause of Han seeing Luke do the force kick?

Or did he perhaps see the force ghosts at the end of Return of the Jedi? Or is it cause of stuff that happens in between VI and VII?

Minds and opinions change. No conspiracy theory here.

A lot can happen in 30 years, and isn’t this a plot spoiler? 😉

I’m pretty sure Han says the force is real in the second trailer. If people saw that it ain’t a spoiler.

I mean, it’s not like Han has ever interacted with a Force user. I don’t think he even married one either.

So yep, makes no sense.

Some people here have avoided the trailers though.

And they avoided seeing it in the theatre for 2 weeks too?

Some perhaps wait for the physical media/digital releases.

Wow, suddenly after 30 years he believes in the force, amazing how fast he changes his mind. He catches on pretty quick.

Didn’t he start to at least give hints that he might beleive in ANH? “Hey luke…may the force be with you.”

And Chewie told him in ROTJ that Luke was a Jedi. I’m sure he accepted that by the end of the events in the movie. Not to mention numerous other things that TFA more or less explicitly revealed about his past.

I need to shave my back. I’ll gladly donate the hair to Lucasfilm if they promise to weave it into the Chewie suit for Ep. VIII.

Didn’t you see the part where Luke explains it to Han in a drawn out monologue involving midicorians?

Afraid not, sorry. It seems someone had that bit cut out of the film, maybe because it sounded too much like technical science gobbledygook.

Did you mean “Sirius”? Because I’m not.

Also, having your blaster Force-pulled out of your grasp by the guy you just shot in the hand might tend to make a person believe in telekinetic powers (which are a large part of the Force as seen in the SW cinema films).

Let’s not forget Han witnessed Luke levitating Threepio in the Ewok village. Who knows what other feats in the Force he was witness to in the following years.

In a universe where they have anti-gravity, artificial gravity, FTL travel, etc., I don’t think feats of telekinesis prove the existence of an all-powerful Force controlling everything. If I were a skeptic in the SW Universe, I could always explain TK away as the product of some sophisticated magnetic/gravitational/what have you technology.

I think there’s another, simpler explanation for why Han believes in the Force: He’s close friends with Luke and he doesn’t believe his friend’s a liar/fraud.
