In 1987, he was in Adventures in Babysitting, where his 'Thor' character was this blonde-haired stud. But in 1987, he was also Private Pile in Full Metal Jacket where he played an overweight dufus. I guess the two could have been filmed a year or two apart, but still an amazing chameleon-esque transformation.
Just ask George Clooney who packed on 40-60 pounds between roles. He has nearly lost it all again, but he did put it on. Doesn't take much more than a Krispy Kreme diet. He did Adventures before FMJ as I recall. So, putting on the weight after Adventures wouldn't be so tough. I dunno how he looked in roles after that, so I don't know how long it would have taken for him to lose the weight again.
