Which one would you say is best? You can pick one editor’s set or mix and match from different ones.

i would have to go with removing all the anointing parts of jar jar in phantom menace maybe anakin’s lines in phantom menace and keep midichlreans basically what hal9000 has done but keep yoda’s fight scenes and the midichloreans in the film

i wish there was an edit that keeps the midicloreans and yoda’s fight scenes in.

There is. It’s called “the official version.”

I’ll also cast my vote for Hal9000’s edits for all three movies. Stellar work across the board – seamless transitions, better pacing, and some really nice changes to certain characters (their motivations, their fate, etc). I really enjoy watching these three films now thanks to him.

Some alternate mentions… Seciors has a solid edit of Ep I, which I would recommend to those looking to “get through” Ep I as fast as possible. It’s moves at too much of a break-neck pace for my tastes, but it’s still put together very well. For Ep III, L8wrtr has a really good edit as well. There are a few things there that I’m not a fan of, such as the order of a handful of scenes (Anakin makes sudden jumps back and forth between locations with the way certain scenes are ordered). But if, for example, you’re not a fan of Hal9000’s change to Padme’s fate, then L8wrtr’s version would be a suitable alternative.

So…you want Hal’s edits, with those specific things put back in? Better learn to edit yourself, because you aren’t gonna find that.

i don’t have editing software and i don’t know how to edit the things i want out of the films.

Start playing the edit in your DVD or BR player. Once the certain scenes begin, eject the disc and put in the original. When the sequence is over, put the edit back in.
Pretend they’re LaserDiscs. Everything’s better on a LaserDisc!

But really, dedicate just a few hours to looking into how to edit together video clips. You wouldn’t need anything fancy at all, just splitting a video into clips and then rejoining them.

My stance on revising fan edits.

Personally, I feel that seciors’ edits of I and II, along with L8wrtr’s III make up the best way to watch the prequels. While there are probably better versions of each film out there, there is continuity between them and they all flow very nicely. I also really do love how seciors and L8wrtr both deal with the lightsaber duels and tighten them up a lot. Even the smallest cuts can make all the difference in the world.

Just my two cents. I really do appreciate all the hard work every fan editor has put in to their edits! Such a task takes so much diligence, patience, and skill. Respect to all involved!

Edit: For those who want the best movie possible, regardless of how Star-Wars-y it feels, I STRONGLY suggest giving OnlyYodaForgives’ Neon Noir edit a watch. It’s definitely the most fun I’ve ever had watching the PT in one sitting. It avoids the pitfalls of most 3 in 1 edits too. Excellent edit.

I mean, it wouldn’t actually be that ridiculous if he was playing via VLC or something. Keep two windows open, cue everything properly before starting, pause and change tabs. I’m sure the yoda fight scene is on youtube or something (I would probably double check any midichlorian scenes on youtube. they’re probably dubbed over for the sake of ridicule).

This really is the only choice for someone who has made it very clear to us a dozen times that he will never edit anything, despite being the #1 requester of things that only he would ever want to watch. I think he actually probably has a good amount of people on his side for the Yoda fight, and I think some edits include that. But he will never, ever find midichlorians in a decent edit. They’re surely one of the driving forces for the creation of this hobby itself. You will generally only find die-hard George apologists that are in favor of the parasites.
