The line I hate the most in ROTJ was “Somehow, I think I’ve always known”.

I agree it’s a bad line, but only because of the squicky kiss in ESB. If there had been no kiss, it’s actually a pretty good line (the two have had a brother/sister relationship for years, and they should presumably feel some sort of bond through the force).

Why is Han so confident that the Empire can’t track the Falcon?
Leia: “They’re tracking us.”
Han: “Not this ship sister!”
All they would have to do is slap some kind of tracker on the side of it, what kind of defense does he think the ship has against that?

Because he’s confident regardless of the situation.

Could be just his cocky and confident nature. He doesn’t want to admit, especially in front of this princess, that his ship can’t shake off a tracker. The only time he showed doubt that the Falcon is invincible is when the Tie Fighters come to attack it. Leia expresses that the Falcon may not hold together, Han immediately responds that it will to Leia, but to himself says something along the lines, “Please hold together baby” with an almost unsure tone.

Edit: TV’s Frink beat me.

Are you crazy? That line was seriously hot.

So how come when Yoda and Obi Wan die there bodys disappear but when Vader and Qui-Gon die there bodys need to be burned?

Lucas actually addresses this in ROTS. At the end of the film Yoda informs a shocked Obi-Wan that he’s been in communion with Qui-Gon and that he has new training for him. This deleted scene from the script sheds some light on it:

YODA: Failed to stop the Sith Lord, I have. Still much to learn, there is …
QUI-GON: (V.O.) Patience. You will have time. I did not. When I became one with the Force I made a great discovery. With my training, you will be able to merge with the Force at will. Your physical self will fade away, but you will still retain your consciousness. You will become more powerful than any Sith.
YODA: Eternal consciousness.
QUI-GON: (V.O.) The ability to defy oblivion can be achieved, but only for oneself. It was accomplished by a Shaman of the Whills. It is a state acquired through compassion, not greed.
YODA: . . . to become one with the Force, and influence still have . . . A power greater than all, it is.
QUI-GON: (V.O.) You will learn to let go of everything. No attachment, no thought of self. No physical self.
YODA: A great Jedi Master, you have become, Qui-Gon Jinn. Your apprentice I gratefully become.

Yoda and Obi-Wan spent years training and when they were ready to die let go of their physical forms. Qui-Gon didn’t discover this until after he passed on. Anakin never knew of this power and was likely helped to come back by Yoda and Obi-Wan.

Please go elsewhere with that retconning prequel bullshit. Thanks 😃

No Jedi had figured out how to do the ghost thing yet. (Funeral pyres are apparently a Naboo custom.) Qui Gon was the first to come back, although that point was slightly lost by the scene where he communicates with Yoda being cut in ROTS.

Lucas has said Anakin’s body does vanish, and Luke burned the empty Vader suit. Take that with a pinch of salt though.

Speaking of Qui Gon’s funeral, why was it on Naboo? Was he from Naboo originally or did nobody love him on his homeworld so they just got rid of the body on Naboo?

I’m just curious as to what the whole “body fading out of existence” thing is supposed to accomplish beyond sparing the next-of-kin funeral expenses. It’s not a necessary function to achieve life after death, as Vader and Jinn’s post-mortum existences proved.

In my opinion, I kinda think body disappearing acts are quite… strange, even for the Star Wars universe. Why must the Force take your physical form into the next level of ‘enlightenment’ when you would think letting go of your physical form would be the cementing mark in one’s journey beyond as a Jedi?

The Jedi were too cheap to embalm him for the trip back home.

It’s tongue-in-cheek. Where’s your sense of humor Wookie?

It was probably a way to honor him for his service to the Queen and her people.

I’m not a mind reader. It still came off as rude.

And not being able to spell Wookiee on a Star Wars site is unacceptable. 😉

I misspell Fink’s name all the time and he always has to correct me too.

It’s not your fault, it wasn’t funny.

Does anyone here own the 2015 BD Saga set? Does it still have Fox logos in TESB and ROTJ? Or is it 100% similar to the 2011 set, with no Disney connection anywhere?

I don’t own that set but I believe the logos are still intact because Fox still distributed it. The logos are only gone on the digital iTunes versions.

By the way, was that scene with Qui Gon communicating with Yoda actually filmed, or was it just planned or scripted but never came to fruition? I had never actually heard of that deleted scene before.

Yes it was “filmed” in the sense that it was a 100% CGI scene and there’s an animatic of it on the BD. You see the tail end of it in the film when Yoda’s meditating on Polis Massa and Bail interrupts. It was planned and scripted but they couldn’t get Neeson in the recording studio to do it (probably scheduling issue, I’m sure he’d have been game) so it was cut.

One thing I’m realizing now is that Qui-Gon never appears as a ghost but seems to be merely a voice, whereas Ben and Yoda can make their whole body appear as a ghost. Is that because the former’s body didn’t disappear and the latters’ did? Maybe. Doesn’t account for Anakin but I don’t think he should have become a ghost anyway.

Ben was just a voice most of the time, too.

That’s interesting about Qui Gon. I don’t care much for watching animatics or storyboards so I must have skipped over it on the BD.

I did see a lovely interview with the cast of TFA on whether or not Han Shot first on the website Collider in which all of them (except for the apathetic Harrison Ford) enthusiastically agreed that Han Shot first! I won’t post the link just because, while it doesn’t discuss TFA, it’s still connected to the film and I don’t want to risk violating the spoiler policy, but I’d recommend you all check it out as it’s pretty funny.
