How to incorporate Kiber crystals in a PT?

With the PT I’m currently working on I have something I want to try to do. This is that the PT should be able to fit the OT and cover all the references to past events there (of course) but that I could simultaneously develop another trilogy to follow the PT that would stick closely to the earlier drafts of Star Wars 77.

In these drafts, as I’m sure you know, the Kiber Cryst is an important talisman that either strengthens the Force or actually is needed to use the Force at all.

So how can I make Kiber crystals powerful and important in the PT and worth it for Obi Wan/Wise Jedi Mento Character to infiltrate the Imperial Capital to get one in a Rought Draft OT while simultaneously making it not a question of why they didn’t try to get any or even mention them in the actual OT?

Perhaps all the crystals were lost and/or destroyed prior to the events of the OT?

Kind of a lazy answer, I know, but I can’t think of anything much better.

It is the easy answer, yes. I was considering having Anakin use his kiber crystal inside his lightsaber as his focusing crystal and it basically being unimportant in the OT because Vader never has that lightsaber again. Obi-Wan loses his sometime and figures he’ll never get it back because that’d clearly be a trap.

Then in Draft OT they can go on a foolhardy and desperate mission to get Obi-Wan’s crystal. And handing down Anakin’s lightsaber is meaninful because in this trilogy the crystal works with any blood relative of the original Jedi it was attuned to.

Protein crystallization conditions that resulted in crystal structures published by scientists at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology have been analysed. It was observed that the more often a crystallization reagent had been used to formulate the initial conditions, the more often it was found in the reported conditions that yielded diffraction quality crystals.
