Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released) — Page 569

One thing was the colors - not so much the color choices (even though there I will also want to make some changes, since it became apparent that the scans I used as reference, while still pretty close, were not 100% accurate to what the print actually looks like) but rather color errors, like whites being green, and these color artifacts on people’s faces and stuff like that. But mainly most of the GOUT sourced stuff just stands out to me and I should be able to get some 35mm scans soon and finally get it to the same level as what ESB and ROTJ v2.5 will be with pretty much no standard definition sources used.

v3.0 will definitelly be 1080p.

That will put an end to that perennial topic. So I’m assuming this means re-despecializing, with risks of regressions in the process? Or is the assumption that a lot of the previously despecialized shots would be replaced with 35mm?

Yes, that is the assumption. Some of the really good ones (there aren’t that many in SW - mostly the 35mm stuff and not all of it either) can be upscaled and for many shots in Empire and all in Jedi I did the despecializing in 1080p already.

I figured you’d started doing that, and that’s where regressions slipped in like the R2 freakout on the latest ROTJ workprint. If you were sticking with your previous 720p despecialization, I’m not sure how that could have happened. Anyway, we should probably consult doubleofive’s gallery religiously when it comes time.

Simply - that shot didn’t need despecializing in v1.0, because v1.0 used the HDTV for the whole movie.

Well, I was going to send out a newsletter today mentioning the ROTJ workprint and Harmy’s future plans for updating the whole trilogy, but we seem to have hit a snag.

When we last sent out an update back in January, we had 1,455 subscribers. MailChimp allows up to 2,000 on a free account but now we have 3,092 subscribers. So, now our choices are either $50/month or a Pay-as-you-Go deal where you purchase credits each time you need to send one out. With our numbers, we’d have to spend $100 for 5,000 credits because each email sent costs 1 credit.

Originally, the newsletter was just for people that wanted to keep tabs on Harmy’s releases without having to visit the forums everyday. I’m not sure what to do here because the true Harmy fans will already know what’s going on in the forums and when new releases will be coming out, so we would be paying to announce information to people who aren’t as involved.

If you think people would like to contribute to keep the newsletter going, I’ll post a Paypal link for it and we’ll see what happens. Otherwise, I’m at a loss as to what to do because I can’t afford to do this on my own…especially for the sake of the occasional visitor.

Let me know what you all think and we’ll proceed from there.

Thanks
Zer0Squared

P.S. Or if anyone knows an alternative to MailChimp that will meet our growing needs, let me know as well.

I no haz car. I take bus. It’s easier to go to his place. So while they’re watching the lame versions I’ll be in another room watching your versions. Then the next day we all go to the theater to watch The Force Awakens.

Hey Harmy, how would you recommend burning the movies on a blu-ray disc? Do I burn the MKV to a BD disc or what? I have a BD burner and the 18 GB mkv, so what do I do? What do you recommend?

I think the easiest way would be to download the AVCHD which comes with a RAR file and an ISO file. Then just burn the ISO file to a Blu-Ray disk? IDK. I don’t own a Blu-Ray burner. This is just my thought.

For a better quality video, remux the mkv with tsmuxerGUI and burn.

Don’t go there - just do what towne32 said - create a BD ISO from the MKV using TsMuxerGUI - it’s very simple, takes only a few minutes and there’s no quality loss.

Thanks you guys! The tsMuxeR seems good! I’ll test that out and get back to you. Is there any place I can go to get the box set made? Like the actual cardboard box packaging? Any sites that do it for cheap? Any guys on here that do it for cheap?

Hi All.

Apologies… I’m not super tech savvy. Is there any way I can download the despecialized editions as simple .avi files (or similar) so I can just put them on a USB and watch them on my TV?

Thanks in advance.

Are you sure your TV can’t play the mkv file?

Thanks. I’ll give it a go. I’ve had trouble with MKVs in the past but fingers crossed.
