On MySpleen I’ve only found the 2.5 version of “A New Hope”, but the other versions are like 1.0 or 2.0 and so on of The Empire Strikes back and Return of the Jedi. I want 2.5 of all 3 films, but no one has uploaded them and I can’t get Jdownloader to work properly! So I can’t download from tehparadox!!! AGH!!! I’ve downloaded Jdownloader 5 or 6 times and have reinstalled it that many times as well.
Can anybody help!?

I can’t help you with Jdownloader, but version 2.5 only exists for A New Hope. The latest versions for the other two are a 2.0 Workprint for Jedi, and I think only 1.0 for Empire.

Oh really? I thought all 3 were 2.5
Thanks for the clearing up.

Jedi v2.0 is just a workprint for now but the final v2.0 version should be out in a few weeks.

So, I just realized that Project Threepio 8.3 doesn’t have full Japanese subs for ROTJ. Does anyone know where I can find them?

Cool, thanks! I read some topics and found what I was looking for. Thank you good sir for all the hard work you’ve done. This’ll be great for when me and my friends do a Machete style marathon this coming Monday before watching The Force Awakens. 😃

Actually, it does have them, just not in SRT format – look in the SUP-720p folder and you’ll find them. I’ll PM you a link if you need it.

Oh, I see it now. I didn’t even know what that folder was, because I’ve just been using srt files up until now. lol Thanks again; you guys are always helpful!

We aim to please. Full Japanese ROTJ subs in SRT format should be in the next version FWIW.

Good to hear! I’m probably going to sound really dumb, but what’s the best way to watch it with a .sup? VLC won’t open any of these files. At least not with the “Add Subtitle File…” option I’ve been using for .srt files.

EDIT: Just got it working by giving the .sup the same file as the video file and playing it in Windows Media Player. This’ll do for tonight. Watching Jedi with my Japanese buddy before he heads back across the pond.

Harmy got a really nice write-up on an Australian news site the other day. I love how mainstream news websites are so favourable to the DeED!

I’m hoping someone here can help me out. I’m a Mac user.
I downloaded the AVCHD versions of the despecialized edition. I believe these are designed to be burned to DVD+R DL discs.

However, the Verbatim DVD+R discs I purchased have 7.96 GiB capacity (they’re 8.55 GB base 10).

Only ROTJ fits on the discs - at 7.93 GiB
ESB is 8.06 GiB
ANH is 8.13 GiB

Is DVD+R DL the disc format these versions were intended for?
Are the file sizes I’m recording correct? Or did I download bad copies?
Are Windows users able to burn correctly with ImgBurn and these file sizes? Or using other types of media?

I’m wondering what troubleshooting strategy I should pursue at this point. I’d really like to make discs that are playable in a BluRay player rather than off my computer.

Just this month, I put the 8.13 gb A New Hope on a 8.5 gb DVD+R DL (Verbatim brand), with menus included from the 2004 DVD and it fit fine. However, this is most likely cause the software I used, Sony DVD Architect, did some compression when prepping it to be burned. I believe the final output was around 7.8 gigs.

I’m gonna be doing this for the other two soon. If anyone’s interested about it, let me know. I can put the files up and stuff.

Harmy’s file “AVCHD v2.5.iso” was 8,484,552,704 bytes.
ESB_DESPECIALIZED_v2.0_AVCHD.iso: 8,429,502,464 bytes
.
Yours might or might not be bad.
Or they might have additional audio tracks muxed in from the larger .mkv releases

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

So, after watching the whole Despecialized trilogy this week, I saw that ROTJ and ESB v2.0 are already far ahead of SW v2.5, which has a lot of issues in comparison.

So here’s the new plan:

I decided that for v2.0 of ROTJ, I will only make the most necessary fixes from the workprint, so that I can have a official final 2.0 version soon to finally replace the comparatively subpar v1.0.

And then I will make v2.5 versions of both rather quickly with only minor fixes (kind of like what SW v2.5 actually did for v2.1) so that the entire trilogy is on the same version and so the difference between v2.5 of SW and the other two isn’t even more huge.

And then I will start working on v3.0 of the entire trilogy, because SW really needs it and the other two are already pretty close to what I’d consider as good as Despecialized is ever going to get (and will be even more so in v2.5) but can be improved with a little extra love.

That actually sounds great to me. I’ve been worried Star Wars was going to end up the worst-looking of the bunch. I love it, mind you, but I know you haven’t been entirely satisfied with the colors for a while now, and we have some great new tools you can use…

You’ve previously reserved the 3.x numbering for 1080p releases. Is this a change to that plan, or is that still on the table?

Also, I’d be delighted to have some of the dubbing and subtitle issues fixed for Star Wars. Between the problems with the Castillian and German dubs, to the old and problematic subtitles, a new release would help everyone.

EDIT: Also, are you taking lists of recommended improvements? I don’t want to post in the thread without your okay because so many people are downloading these for the first time now and I don’t want to spoil the magic.

Thanks - it sounds like the file size is the issue. I’ll look for another copy.

Sounds awesome Harmy! Honestly you don’t need to fix a whole lot, SW 2.5 is incredibly faithful to the unaltered. Hell, I wouldn’t mind if the Death Star Battle remained the same, the GOUT upscaling there is wonderful.

I’ll agree with that. Color aside, 2.5 is near flawless once they take off from the Death Star. Tatooine is more in need of fixes. I think Harmy’s rotoscoping has come a long way, and things are now aligned and stabilized extremely well. The color of the 35mm elements is sometimes different, mostly on Tatooine. But whole 35mm shots will rectify that if they are available.

In version 2.5 (my version has checksum ok) there is a bug with Spanish Sound (Castilian), from the moment they fall into the pit of mud (sorry, my english is not very good) exactly at 1h:16m:39sec the audio changes to “Spanish Latino” (without changing the track “castilian”) and it becomes itself Castilian again at 1:19:45. Very weird and it’s a pity!!!

Maybe there are more parts with this extrange behavior, I’ll check later.

Thank you for this amazing version.

Fixed Castillian audio is available. I PM’d you a link. Yes, I think a new release of Star Wars Despecialized would be very helpful in my department 😉

What issues did you notice in the 2.5 version?
