Is still possible to subscribe in this email list? I really wanted a way for this preview…
So there’s no way to subscribe then?
Us old folks are getting priority, but they were taking newcomers not too long ago.
I’ve just seen the preview and it’s awesome, even though I find the whites and black too strong.
I already knew the whites were going to be “blown”, since it’s like that on the print. I don’t know about the blacks; my CRT monitor isn’t calibrated, so I just adjusted the brightness/contrast settings until the gray letterbox borders were the same color as the background.
I haven’t seen the preview, but which scenes have blown whites?

It wasn’t any preview, it was stills posted at the old blog.
Someone had compared them with the SE DVDs (I think?) and was complaining that the negative sourced SEs had more detail in the whites than the 35mm.
I can’t remember which film it was, but I remember it was shots of explosions.

I just got a Myspleen invite and noticed the preview reel from this summer. While it’s not “perfect”, I do think you’re on the right track. I’ve seen commercial releases that don’t look as good as what you’ve done. I’m looking forward to seeing the rest 😃
If it is still possible to subscribe in this email list, I would really love to ?
On a side note I am working in the commercial / movie business here in Denmark, and have access to several fully equipped 4K Cinema Render Farms and editing suites, that I am allowed to use in my spare time, so if I can help out in any way, I would love to 😃
Is there an estimated release date?
Just posting this in case anyone hadn’t read it. The Library Of Congress has a nice 2K scan and carefully preserved 35MM prints.

I wonder how they determined their color correction.

Well this is certainly news to me. I thought George refused to give them anything but the SE. Here it says that they’ve had “negatives” since the theatrical releases. The author doesn’t seem to have any technical knowledge about film. But this certainly seems interesting.
From what I know, it seems the print is a faded Eastman, that was never meant to serve for archival purposes.

He speaks once of fade as ‘loss of vibrancy’. And describes Tatooine as a sort of yellow dusty color that he attributes, probably incorrectly, to fade. Whether or not its a transfer or presentation issue isn’t clear. But it sounds like it might actually look correct and he’s just comparing it to the SE that looks like Tatooine was a Californian summer with bright blue skies.
Either way, he wouldn’t be able to discuss things in this way if it was a bright red/pink Eastman film.
It’s pretty cool that it has the original crawl.

There is no current blog, or additions to the email list. That was for prior members from our past blog.
As far as the previews go, those were limited in time also. Members here will share them with you, feel free to PM them.

So, how can I get my hands on the preview of reel 3 that you shared via mail at the end of November? Unfortunately the link was already dead before I had the chance to grab it.
Happy new year everyone, of course!

Cool.
Time zone? (edit: doesn’t matter, I guess, at this point in the day).
edit2: Oh, you removed it.
edit3: I guess that counts as peeking.
I missed something cool, didn’t I.

There was just a teaser photo of the Star Wars logo. Nothing too major.
What’s the internal temperature of a TaunTaun? Luke warm.

There was slightly more to it than that, but I assume they don’t want it posted. It also doesn’t really make sense to post at this point, because it was for yesterday’s date. That or November 1st.
ok, now i wanna know what it was.

Nothing crazy. Just something that made me excited and thinking a release would occur last night but obviously that was not the intention.
Yes, there was a bit more, but it wasn’t a big piece of information and I don’t know if I should have shared so I didn’t. So nothing happened then?

yeah, I was hoping for a release as well…
oh well, just a matter of time, I guess… 😉

As far as I can tell, no nothing is there.
