Thanks a lot! I’ll use 1.0 and just get him an updated 2.0 when it’s finished!

Also THANK YOU SO MUCH Harmy for all your hard work

@Timoty
Are you just making standard DVDs for your dad? If so, I’d suggest using Dark_Jedi’s GOUT V3 releases, especially for RotJ. It will provide you the best in consistent DVD quality since it’s all from one source. (nothing against Harmy’s, Despecialized is the way to go for HD).

Preferred Saga:
1/2: Hal9000
3: L8wrtr
4/5: Adywan
6-9: Hal9000

Do you think the GOUT ROTJ would rest well alongside Harmy’s ANH and ESB? I’m doing standard DL DVDs to accommodate all the “special features” I’m including

Maybe slightly off-topic but I’m making Harmy DVDs for my dad for Christmas. For ROTJ, would you guys recommend v1.0 or is the workprint complete enough for now? I know the video quality is supposed to be much better in the WP.

I appreciate any opinions!

IMO – and it pains me to say it – 1.0 is better for general-purpose enjoyment than the 2.0WP. The missing subtitles can be fixed, but the crazy wrong R2 freakout just wrecks it, worse than blurry eyebrows. For my own purposes – like a lot of people here, it seems – I’ve made a mashup of the workprint with 1.0 spliced in at a few key points. I’m confident the second workprint or final release of 2.0, whatever’s next, will be clearly better than 1.0 in every respect. The first workprint very nearly is.

I would say deathalo’s patch up plus subs would work great. But it still has text during the fox logo, so still not ideal for a permanent copy.

No, GOUT wouldn’t look good under any circumstances. In fact, I’d still recommend Harmy’s v1 over the previously-mentioned dark_jedi’s v3 – once you’ve scaled it down to DVD resolution, a lot of the most noticeable faults in v1 (blurry GOUT footage) are much less severe, while the HD-sourced material still looks like a top-quality DVD instead of an non-anamorphic mess. There’s some bad DVD downscales out there though, so be sure to get a good one or roll your own.

Yes, I mistakenly gifted someone the DVD5 of RoTJ DeSp that has the menu. The friend I gave the disc to is no videophile, and I think he may even only have a CRT TV. But even he noticed how bad it looked.

I fixed that scene in my re-edit of the 2.0 Workprint, which I’m more than happy to share if you PM me.

I’ve actually finished my preTFA marathon today using Deathalo’s adjustment of my workprint. Thanks Deathalo!
I’m now waiting in line for popcorn at the TFA premiere. 😃

Most welcome Harmy! Happy to do it and glad you liked it, got a lot of requests filled for people so I hope everyone enjoys it! Almost 24 hours before my first viewing of TFA, can’t wait, watching the OT now!

Having already seen it, I’d love to hear what you thought!

What’s the internal temperature of a TaunTaun? Luke warm.

The first 8 and a half minutes are spoiler-free and then there’s a big warning before the spoilers start.

I’m scared just being on the internet today before I see it!

Yeah, I recommend getting offline until you watch it - a colleague of mine just had a super important story point spoiled by some douchebag on facebbok - kind of like if there was facebook in 1980 and someone wrote “Vader is Luke’s father” on it for everyone to see.

I saw subtitles for Empire! Woo! Oh, and thanks for the review too – and the helpful spoiler-gate. I’m likely to miss the entire theatrical window, which isn’t actually likely to cause me spoiler problems as I don’t know how the Internet works and I never leave the house. Basically I’m Howard Hughes with a cat avatar.

Hey I was wondering where I should grab subtitles for the Jedi 2.0/1.0 mashup or if I even need to. Was there subtitles for some of the Ewokian lines, like at least from C3PO? I can’t fully remember but I’m only looking for the eng subs of just whatever the eng theatrical would have shown. Any help very appreciated

For just the alien subtitles, it depends which mashup you got, and whether they ported over the subtitles from 1.0 to the 2.0 workprint to replace the missing ones.

No, there were no subtitled Ewok lines. If your mashup includes the lines “I have come for the bounty…” (~14:16), “Bring me Solo and the Wookiee.” (~27:38), and “They will all suffer for this outrage.” (~27:41), you’re good to go. Otherwise you’ll need to download the subtitle file Harmy linked earlier: https://mega.nz/#!Ll03BZyY!3YEdAOXEKXJ4yj-wIfnXgWfnQmf0m5YH4i-bnlYrqSU
