Yeah - there are some slight color differences in some 35mm shots that will still need to be polished, but I think none that can be called jarring at this point.

Got GOUT-sync?
We don’t want <(team member formerly known as negative1)> to think
that I’m picking on him exclusively, so…
Workprint frames 141780 & 781 are the same frame repeated (GOUT 141780).
GOUT 143417 is missing from the workprint, last frame of the shot.
From GOUT shot 22860-23044, the workprint is missing one frame.
Probably the last frame of that shot is the one missing.
Compared to GOUT shot 25408-743, the workprint has two additional frames
at the beginning of the shot.
From GOUT shot 28230-651, the workprint is missing one frame.
Probably the last frame of that shot is the one missing.

Sorry, it’s what I do.
Anyway counting frames of RotJ is far more fun than watching it!
Please note I didn’t check every single shot, and won’t do.
Only checked reel change, LD sides, and wherever pulldown cadence changed,
since those points were annotated in IVTC scripts I’ve previously shared.
I admire your efforts to keep it GOUT-sync’ed
because interchangeable parts are NOT over-rated.
However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

Well, the question is whether by the end of the next shot it’s in sync again - if it is, that’s good enough for me.
No, it’s not back in sync by the end of the next shot.
It remains out-of-sync throughout those sequence:
23045-25407
25408-28651
141781-143417
The last two being worse offenders, with picture lagging behind the sound,
since light is supposed to travel faster than sound (even in far-away galaxy?
)
WTF is “good enough”? A slippery slope, no doubt.
Only half-joking when I say I hope fame hasn’t got to your head.
Your attention to detail has served you well

Watched this over the weekend with friends and although yeah there are some things to fix as noted by everyone else, overall the effect was great. ROTJ is a better movie than I remembered, and the bad optical composites during the Sail Barge scenes are bad enough to evoke reactions from the audience. But no one commented on Sebastian Shaw’s eyebrows, which to me indicates that the switch to 35mm is successful there.

If the sync is quickly resolved, who cares? The BD is missing random frames. Maybe which one he duplicates can be optimized (static shot, etc) and get it back in line faster, [edit]: but it’s not a big deal.
I think the real issue here is that I really need a frame perfect rip of NTSC GOUT to use as a reference. I used v1.0 as a guide and only changed those frames that differ between PAL and NTSC GOUT.
Forgive me if this has already been posted on this forum. But I was curious if there are plans (or even the ability) to have a DTS HD audio track for Return of the Jedi similar to your Despecialized Star Wars?
Absolutelly - the final v2.0 will have the same audio tracks as v2 of the other movies (minus the mono mix, as that seems to be the same as stereo for Jedi).
Thanks for the response and the hard work. I also noticed your name in the news more this week as the media builds for the premier of The Force Awakens, I am glad you all are getting recognized for what you have accomplished.

FWIW, I use v1.0 as a guide for the GOUT sync of the subtitles ref, so if you make adjustments from 1.0 in the first half hour, they will need to be applied to the synced subtitles ref too.

23045-25407
25408-28651

Can you be more specific for the AviSynth-challenged? i.e. in sequence 1, the workprint video is 1 frame late, and in sequences 2 & 3, it’s 1 frame early?
Workprint frames 141780 & 781 are the same frame repeated (GOUT 141780).
That’s what I’d expect his PAL GOUT to look like after applying my sync script.
#PAL GOUT
Mpeg2Source()
AssumeFPS(24000,1001)
DuplicateFrame(141781)
DeleteFrame(68664,68665)
Presumably, Harmy could leave in the relevant SE frame where the PAL GOUT needs the duplicate. (I’ve never checked the frames on any of the SEs, but I assume that they are not missing any compared to the NTSC GOUT.)
But I don’t understand the other differences that you pointed out.
EDIT: I’m working on providing Harmy with a frame-accurate reference for the NTSC GOUT.

Nevermind, I just did the frame math and it doesn’t look like any subtitle frames are in any of the affected periods, so the reference I made is still frame-accurate, as far as the subtitles go.
That’s good to hear.

Good compilation for someone that wants to understand the changes, succinctly. I think they pretty much hit all the high points, err, low points.
There are many others that get under my skin but for what it is, it’s not a bad list.

Thank the maker Lapti Nek is alive & well!
Joh Yowza & Jedi Rocks can burn in celluloid h3ll for all I care!
At about 1:42:26 when R2-D2 is malfunctioning from being shot, aren’t a couple of the attachments on his head from the SE or BD?
It’s really sad when the “creative minds” behind something we hold dear are also guilty of its destruction.
Yep. Has been discussed.
K. Daz cool.

Interesting to note that they used Re-specialized for number 3.
Hey is it at all possible to get the Workprint on MySpleen as an MKV?
Isn’t it already there?
Another DSP mention in the media.
