Where did you see the 70mm print?
Where did you see the 70mm print?
It was a private collector’s print in a private screening room with several other enthusiasts.
“Alright twinkle-toes, what’s your exit strategy?”
Wow, I don’t suppose they would be willing to lend it out so it could be scanned and preserved?
I had a unique chance to see a 70mm magnetic print this past year. To my eyes, the image looked a lot like the THX laserdisc in terms of color to my eyes, but it was free of any digital enhancement and grain reduction. It looked like a 1990s film, which is to say, great.

Which of the two laserdisc pictures on this page is the one you’re talking about? (if either)

So, I just got the japanese PIBF-1001 DVD from Terminator 2.
First of all the movie is split in two sections on one side. Seems to be splited where the layer break is.
From first viewing through some scenes, I would say that is is color wise not different from the US release, but I could be wrong. At least the difference is not noticable during first checking out and remembering the color of the US discs…
Edit: Just Checked both japanese DVDs side by side: Both have the same Video Master.
"I kill Gandalf." - Igor, Dork Tower
it has been 5 years.
i like T2.
there has been progress?
Comparing the T2 35mm scan against previous dvd and blu-ray releases i’ve noticed that it shows more image both horizontally and vertically. The home releases are cropped, even the new tealed 2017 version. Also the faces despite the heavy teal tint of the 2017 is still more reddish in some scenes than the 35mm scan. Makes me wonder if it isn’t still the same old transfer only with a teal tint to cover the red push, and lots of dnr and sharpening to make it look like a new transfer…
