Can anybody point me to any screencaps taken from the dtheater release?

I'm very interested in seeing how the colours look on this dtheater release and how they compare to the blu-ray.

Far as I know, the color timing for the dtheater version is unique to it's release.  Neither the DVD or Bluray share it's timing.

It certainly looks that way. It's got a colder feel to it than the blu-ray.

I like this look far better as it seems to deepen the loneliness of space for the crew and the story.

To ALL interested in this project......

I have come up against some financial road blocks and taking care of my daughter is top on the list.

I still haven't received any responses to requests for assistance with bluray menu's and such so that will slow things down even more.  Doombot and I have to discuss the final specs so we can consider announcing what the final project will be made up of.

Thanks for all the patience and understanding.  And yes, this means The Mummy HD-DVD Hybrid Project is on hold as well, sorry.

Family should come first. Your projects aren't going to turn into a pumpkin at midnight or anything. Hope everything works out for you.

Is anyone here able to capture BetaCam SP tapes?  I just purchased a A/V Press Kit for the DC and it comes with a tape containing 2 different trailers, some short Ridley Scott stuff along with scene and soundbytes.

I would like to try and include this with the final product.  We are working on this and you can find updates at fanres.

Ideas and suggestions are welcome.

Cheers!!!!

If all else fails, find out if there's a camera store or some other outfit that does video transfers in your area.

You can always fib you're preserving it for your uncle who worked on the movie, or something. ;)

This one has been sitting in the shadows for a bit but we're getting closer to release.  Thanks for all the patience everyone.  It is appreciated.

This will be a nice compliment piece to PDBs stuff.

Glad to hear that it's getting near completion. Can't wait.

Is there anyone, preferably in the states, that is set up for betacam captures?  I purchased an Alien DC presskit with a tape that has promo material on it.  I was hoping to get it added to he Alien DC DVHS preservation if I could get it done fairly quick.

Thanks in advance,

Shawn

Is there even equipment for transferring Betacam footage onto other mediums?

Ol’ George has the GOUT, I see.

There is … it can be pricey depending on how far one is willing to go. I know we have people in the wild who have done it and I was hoping someone might want to pitch in and help. Wal-Mart actually does transfers of this medium … I will probably have to remove all indicators on the tape and take a chance that they’ll do it without scolding me once they see whats on it, LOL.

For clarity, this is analog betacam and not digibeta?

It might be possible to get a used analog betacam deck for a few hundred bucks on Ebay. Tv stations probably dumped a lot of working gear as they upgraded to digital formats as Digibeta decks are backwards compatible with the older tapes.

If it’s the smaller betacam tapes that were used for news gathering, a portable deck might do the trick…

Odd that Walmart would offer Betacam transfers, as it’s not a consumer format. Are you sure it’s not Betamax they’re talking about?

And did you ever get a quote from any pro transfer house?

Would MP4 be more desirable than DVD?

Regarding the betacam footage: If this will influence your decision, since, I presume, the picture/audio quality on analogue betacam is less then even DVD quality, then MP4 would be acceptable to me. There is no sense in using up memory for material that is not DVD quality.

I would download the video on a USB external hard drive and play it on my LG DVD/Blu Ray player. That is simple for me-quick and convenient.

Betacam was a broadcast industry standard for decades. It’s not going to look like something recorded on a home VCR.
