No, you have to use a special UDF filesystem to be Video-DVD compatible. If it’s not the right filesystem, your player will see it as a data disc and may not do anything with it. I’d recommend ImgBurn–I understand it works in Wine so you could technically get it running on a Mac. Also, you may find some option menu in the software you’re using where it gives you filesystem options–you want a video DVD, not a data DVD.
