I think I saw the 97SE on VHS in 1997 or 1998, so probably I was either 3 or 4 years old, but I don’t remember very much about ANH.
Santa Claus Lucas talked about how he “improved” the movie with Vader’s figure standing in front of him;
I had trouble understanding the dialogues (especially when talking about politics);
I found the droids’ scenes on Tatooine boring, but I always let them play anyway;
I think I liked Mos Espa’s sequences because they were the first steps towards Luke’s new journey;
Luke’s training with his BLUE lightsaber, of course 😉
Chewie going nuts was always funny on the Death Star, and “Boring conversation anyway” always made me laugh 😄
I also think I liked the garbage masher’s scene, though I don’t specifically remember why. But I was scared that they could actually get smashed; I don’t remember feeling sorry for Obi-wan, though, probably because he “sounded” still alive 😄
I didn’t understand they had to destroy the Death Star on time, so I found the dogfights boring;
when the Death Star finally exploded, I think my father told me that it would show up again in ROTJ because it wasn’t COMPLETELY destroyed, starting a false myth 😄
Overall, I think I liked TESB and ROTJ more (Ewoks not included!), even though they were much more mature and “creepy” 😄

P.S.: when I saw TPM a few years later, I remember saying to myself that it was fine (except for the obvious retcons) and that it was more “modern” (not in a good way) compared to the OT because the film was faster paced than TESB 😄
