I wasn’t aware there was a blog!

Ol’ George has the GOUT, I see.

As far as the AR goes, the email does suggest that it’s not finalized.

I think the blog is long since defunct.

What a nice surprise, thanks a lot guys! Hope there’s something more coming out for Christmas, huh? 😉

People who alter or destroy works of art and our cultural heritage for profit or as an exercise of power are barbarians, and if the laws of the United States continue to condone this behavior, history will surely classify us as a barbaric society.

The preview looks great. It was a nice surprise to receive the e-mail. Thanks!

I wish I was on the email list. If this is somehow finished before the force awakens it will go along nicely with the grind house esb. Or even after. Would gladly pay money to watch these restored prints in a theater.

Which blog ? I was on it once, but it has ceased its activity a long time ago.
Same with reddit Ampsdeux.

Everyone was so excited about the new clip, they forgot to actually read the email =)

So there’s no way to subscribe then?

I’ve just seen the preview and it’s awesome, even though I find the whites and black too strong.
And it’s quite fun to see how grainy the effect shots are. The grain and the cleanup are just right in my eyes. 😃

Yeah it looked great for what it is, even like that that would probably be my go to version right now. You can see the blowed out whites in the subs especially but nevertheless, you guys have done great job.

The sub’s also have some red bleeding through. But apparently the greedo scene is from an alternate source reel.

Us old folks are getting priority, but they were taking newcomers not too long ago.

I already knew the whites were going to be “blown”, since it’s like that on the print. I don’t know about the blacks; my CRT monitor isn’t calibrated, so I just adjusted the brightness/contrast settings until the gray letterbox borders were the same color as the background.

I was registered on the old Saving Star Wars Blog, but I never got any email…

Yeah, wasn’t the Greedo shot cut in from an Eastman print or something, while the rest of the reel is LPP?

  • some of the scenes are much “noisier” than others. I think it’s because of the optical wipes, the scene gets noisy always before and after an optical wipe, after the next cut it gets cleaner.

Wouldn’t this just be because sections involving wipes have been through an extra layer of compositing?

I think so

This is exactly the reason. Watch an older film from the 30s and this effect is much more obvious.

So how are you guys getting along with everything? Are you guys till aiming for a December release or maybe next year though? (not trying to push you guys, seriously take all the time you guys need. I’m just happy this is happening at all.)

O, and can somebody please tell me how to change the layout of this new forum to something other then for myopic elderly people? You know, like smaller fonts, smaller everything, a bit more oversight, a bit more like what we had?

Thanks,

Laszlo

AFAIK, the only thing you can do is press CTRL± (control and minus), or CTRL+mwheeldown a few times. It’s not the best, but it’s something.
