I seem to have misplaced my copy of the last preview clip - can I have a reupload?
If you mean the WeTransfers from a few pages ago, then I second that! They sounded awesome!

Not sure if anyone else noted this, but while watching the latest preview for the zillionth time, I came to the conclusion there might be a slight pink shift in the latest preview.
Here’s how it looks now:
Here’s how it looks after a white balance:
Here’s a direct comparison:

It should be noted that, since we are dealing with prints, the white balance should not be done in the RGB color space, since film uses magenta, yellow and cyan as base colors.

I noticed this as well, I just didn’t say anything because I figured it would be fixed.

Could you possibly send me a copy of that preview? I’ve still misplaced mine.

Thanks for sharing. Cleanup looks pretty nice on this one. No tramline scratches to worry about, and most of the remaining damage is very small. Lack of flicker is also very nice. Color is certainly watchable, but not there yet compared to some of your previous samples (as is the case for the end of the exterior scene it starts with). Stabilization needs optimization probably? The image doesn’t look as sharp as previous samples, from what I remember. Not sure if it’s just the sample encoding.
Looking forward to the next one.
Looks good! I’ll get a chance to see how it looks on a projection screen later in the week.

This was a mistake post. I can’t delete. so I’ve written this.
The sample looks really good. It looks very authentic. Colors look very vibrant. Thanks very much for posting it!
Great sample! nice colour and contrast. I quickly compared it to the bluray and the improvement in colour space is really impressive. The blu is extremely washed out by comparison. On the topic of the whitebalance done above- the aim of this project is to digitally replicate the integrity of your film sources right? (With a bit of polishing) To my mind if your scan looks like how the print projects with a standard bulb, then you’ve done your job, colour wise. Ie if the pink tint is a genuine artefact of the print then it seems reasonable to leave it as it is. Just one opinion obviously. Very excited! 😃
Looks really great, guys! Your hard work is quite impressive.
Just out of curiosity: how far along are you in the restoration?
What’s the internal temperature of a TaunTaun? Luke warm.
Here is our latest sample, with Luke and Ben talking.

It appears that you used selective color and replaced some pink with beige? This causes faces to have really odd color combinations. You might consider an alternative color correction tool to deal with the pink in this one.

I’m doing some edit work on this topic:
http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Need-special-effects-for-your-edit-Request-them-here/id/46109
So in order to properly edit a sequence i would need a cleaned up version of the Luke and Biggs deleted scene!
So could someone send me the shot?
Thanks in advance 😃
This latest preview has a nice film feel, very smooth. I think it needs some gamma correction, because the blacks are overpowering in practically every shot. As far as the color, the skin tones are almost orange, but I think that’s because they are a bit oversaturated. Thanks for posting the update.
that over saturation will probably go away automatically when the image is lightened up with a gamma correction.
Whenever I watch the latest previews of this restoration I grin like an idiot, it just has certain analog quality that almost seem magical.
I only really registered to this site to follow this topic, love the work you guys are putting in to this!
Between your and Mike Verta’s efforts, it seems like the original films will be preserved for future generations no matter what.
We have sent an email, with the link to the private preview for Reel 3 to all blog members, and supporters. Be sure to get it within the next week or so.
Thanks for all the comments, and a special thanks to Dre for his color matching tool.
Happy Holidays and hope Thanksgiving will be a memorable one.

Wow, the color has come a long way since the last R3 preview.
Thanks Team, but teasing’s not nice. 😉
Yeah, no fair. I didn’t get a link. 😦

Reel 3 preview looks fairly good. Colour balance seems good, though the whites are blown out (high contrast in the source material might be the cause of this), it’s undersaturated, and there are colour shifts from shot to shot. Also needs stabilization.
Thanks for a lovely surprise.

I love it, great job guys
Where’s your blog?
Amazing preview! Colors and contrast look spot on in my opinion. Thanks for sharing!
