As I understand, compared to the 1997 SE, the 2004 SE has its own (screwed) color granding, which is exactly the official one found on the DVDs. So, as LexX wrote, the closest version with better grading is the 1997 SE (which is mostly based on the OT one).
Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, no one has ever tried (even thought 😄) applying that color grading to the 2004 SE. It’s not an easy task either, because the 2004 SE has different grading almost shot by shot. I guess a “quick-and-dirty” corrected 2004 SE could be achieved by using the 1997 SE (which is only available in SD or upscaled) and replacing+regrading only the “new” 2004 shots, but I’m not sure anybody would be interested in making such edit and supporting it (i.e.: focusing on preserving its download for years).
