Info Wanted: a Color Corrected 2004 SE Trilogy preservation?

I have been searching for the last day or two and cannot seem to find what I’m curious about: has anybody done a preservation of the 2004 Special Editions in HD, but color corrected? I know Schorman has, but the size is too unwieldy for me to download and I can’t find information for sure about how he has dealt with the horrid 2004 colors, if at all. From what I gather, he left the colors as they were.

The reason I ask is that I have Harmy’s Despecialized trilogy, and I want a Special Edition set to go with, but without the BD changes. I do have HD versions of the '04 SE, but with the crappy colors still. I want an SE without pink-saber-Vader, dammit!

Any direction to point me in?

If you want the Special Edition color corrected, I’d point you to the 1997 SEs. The best are made by darkjedi (if they all have been released?). If you want the DVD editions color corrected, that would be just another fan made special edition. I mean, it’s an option but why bother with any official edition from the 2000s? The real SEs are still even somewhat tolerable.

And in the time of greatest despair, there shall come a savior, and he shall be known as the Son of the Suns.

Well, I’m not one of the people that dislikes the special editions, aside from a couple of things. I like the '04 changes (Ian as the Emperor in V, Hayden as Force Ghost) for their connectivity to the PT, so an HD set of the '04 versions without Vader’s pink Lightsaber would be tops. That’s actually the only color issue that’s unacceptable to me.

Adywan’s versions would be my be-all end-all versions of the trilogy, but he’s still working on those, so I seek stopgaps for when I want to watch an SE version. Harmy’s handled the OOT, I’m looking for an acceptable SE.

I mean, if no version like this exists it’s one thing. But given how many tinkered versions there are, I’m hoping it’s been done already and I can be directed to them.

As I understand, compared to the 1997 SE, the 2004 SE has its own (screwed) color granding, which is exactly the official one found on the DVDs. So, as LexX wrote, the closest version with better grading is the 1997 SE (which is mostly based on the OT one).
Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, no one has ever tried (even thought 😄) applying that color grading to the 2004 SE. It’s not an easy task either, because the 2004 SE has different grading almost shot by shot. I guess a “quick-and-dirty” corrected 2004 SE could be achieved by using the 1997 SE (which is only available in SD or upscaled) and replacing+regrading only the “new” 2004 shots, but I’m not sure anybody would be interested in making such edit and supporting it (i.e.: focusing on preserving its download for years).
