Maybe he's hoping George will bid on it so that he can burn it.

Nah, he's way too busy ensuring Disney gets Ep VII right to bother with this sort of stuff.

Well, someone paid an obscene amount of money for an obscure Kenner Droids prototype action figure last summer, so that kind of insanity tends to creep into related items.

Mother. Of. God.

That's what the winning bidder's spouse probably said! :D

 I don't think that person has a spouse ;)

I like to think I've kept a close eye on Holiday Special related material but I've never seen this photo before in my life:

Nice find! Never saw this photo of Carrie before either.

And I've suddenly realized Wookiee life day robes have ridiculously long sleeves to avoid having to make hands for all the extras. ;)

And by using off-the-shelf Don Post Chewbacca masks, they didn't have to custom-make anything at all.  Presto! Cheap Wookiee crowd scene.

Those masks were around $100 bucks each back in the day, so not too cheap either. ;)

That was the first thing I noticed about that scene.

"Wow, those robes sure do make all of the Wookiees look a lot thinner...it's almost as if none of them actually have any fur underneath..."

But at least it's not as bad as the "now I can't unsee it" in The 5th Element =(

True...but a hell of a lot cheaper than paying someone like Stuart Freeborn to hand-make 20-30 new Wookiee heads!

One day George will officially release this, but with all of the Wookiee's replaced with CGI :)

"It's the way I always intended it, but we just didn't have the time or the budget."

That was really his only gripe with the special.

Also, the "whip whip stir whip" scene will be ten minutes longer.

I have to admit that the Star Wars Holiday special is a guilty pleasure for me. I love the pics you guys have dug up.

All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.

What's the best source for the most popular set of commercials (Frizzies@11, etc.)? Thanks!

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

Huh, I just set about looking for an ISO of this because a couple friends and I did a double feature of the Rifftrax version with Barbarella around last Christmas that we’d like to repeat and I thought I could probably do better than the crappy avi we watched last time. I had no idea it was actually THE day.

Anyway, I ended up going with the Gormaanda hybrid.

Hey.

Is this the best copy of the special…

…or is there better?

I know it does not contain some of the opening theme and the animated segment, but I already have a that stuff.

The latest release of the Gormaanda Hybrid on MySpleen is your best bet.

Also, welcome back. You’re an OT.com legend.

Wow. Thanks! I wish I could be as involved as much as I used to, but since first joining here I got married, had two kids, and just recently became a homeowner. I do miss things around here and the original trilogy is always in my heart.

Happy Life Day!

Shouldn’t Life Day be on the Friday before Thanksgiving, not on the original broadcast date of Nov. 17th, since Thanksgiving isn’t usually on the same date every year?

…or I guess if you’re Lucas, Life Day is on…Christmas…??

I was trying to celebrate, but for some reason, we only made it about 20 minutes in before my friends all remembered that they had to be somewhere else!

For anyone in the Portland, Oregon area, the beautifully restored historic theater near me will be celebrating Life Day on Friday, December 4, 2015, with their secret annual screening of this cult favorite.

Enjoy a pint of microbrew while watching TSWHS in a full theater of Star Wars fans who don’t know how deep in it they are. Seeing the crowd groan, squirm, and laugh at this show is really the only bearable way to experience TSWHS.

It’s going to be a lock-in event, I hope 😄

A few smart moviegoers manage to escape the clutches of the Dark Side. This tends to happen when Itchy gets disturbingly excited with his Oculus Rift-style Head Mounted Display.

We call that “Itchy’s sex chair”.

I always have to have my restraints tightened whenever Harvey Korman appears on-screen =|

As I’ve said in the past, the HS is a rite of passage. You’re not truly a Star Wars fan until you’ve seen the whole thing at least once.

And those who find it intolerable know nothing of hell. 😉

It’s on youtube. Watch it! I triple dog dare you!

Pfft, child’s play. Four words that will leave you begging to watch either of the aforementioned holiday specials: Revenge of the Sith

Thanks to Skot for putting on Friday’s Holiday Special event at The Kiggins, we had a blast as usual. Thanks for the conversation as well, it was good to meet you.

I’m new to this site and have been looking for a good version of the Holiday Special for some friends and I. We’ll be Marathon-ing the movies, (probably in the Machete Order [http://bit.ly/LyScly]), and were thinking about watching the Holiday Special as well.
I was wondering if anyone had a link to where I could download the best version currently available. If it’s on that MySpleen website is there a way I could get an invite? I would really appreciate it. Think of it as a Christmas Gift to me and my friends. If not I’ll continue looking.

Thanks and enjoy the Force Awakens. 😃
