I’m planning on making a Pan&Scan version of the Despecialized Editions. Would you be able to send me the colour-corrected Greedo scene without the subtitles?

Ol’ George has the GOUT, I see.

I’d be happy to review your version when done… but I’m afraid I’d PAN it!

And here I was afraid I couldn’t get the right tone across on the Internet…

  • I think it’s overall too long for most viewers. Perhaps time can be cut from the interview (sorry!), from before-and-after segments, and between all segments, to get it down to 15 minutes.

I actually want a longer version (as I would imagine most people would that spend the time to track something like this down in the first place). An argument could also be made for a condensed version (almost trailer like) to show before or after a presentation to the uninitiated.

It really isn’t the length that’s the problem, it’s the redundant repeating of information. The problems with the GOUT are mentioned twice and it’s not really necessary. That’s what makes it feel long to you.

Hello, Harmy! I’ve a technical question about the making of the DE

In your “Sources” documentary, you show how you cleaned a 35mm cell of Ben’s hut to match the blu ray footage. In the final product, the frame subtly shifts back and forth, as it should, to simulate the organic movement of a film reel.

How exactly did you achieve this? Was it a traditional avisynth script or through another editing program?

Thanks

That’s what she said. Honestly, she’s always been a bit verbose for my tastes.

I used After Effects - specifically a function called The Wiggler.

As to the making of doc - it is very much a work in progress - they are two separate docs spliced together. The plan is to one day have these on a bonus BD, selectable from the menu as separate featurettes and there would be two or three more five to ten minute featurettes between them, which is why some info is repeated.

Hi

This is a fantastic project and the work is astonishing.

I’ve managed to download all three as AVCHD versions however Episodes 4 and 5 are very slightly too big to be burnt to a DL DVDR. I was under the impression that the AVCHD versions were created to burnt to DL DVDRs so I’m a bit stumped on how I can get these burnt to disc for use in a Blu Ray player.

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

Where did you download them from? The AVCHDs I put out definitely fit on a DVD9.

I torrented them from kickass torrents, they’re referred to as ZMachine versions…

They are V2.5 of ANH, V2.0 of ESB and V1.0 of ROTJ, ROTJ worked just fine however…

The readme file that came with them says they are formatted for DVD DL but they are just over 8GB so won’t fit on a DVD DL.

Very frustrating…

Oh, right, those are the ITA-ENG releases that someone put out - you’ll need to use tsMuxer to demux the extra Italian audio that wasn’t in the original release.

Is that literally a case of just dropping the BDMV image into tsmuxer and removing that audio track?

Author

Almost - you need to drop in not the entire BMDV folder but the .m2ts file inside the BDMV/STREAM folder and then deselect the Italian audio (or maybe getting rid of any unneeded subtitles could probably do the trick instead) and select AVHCD Folder muxing option and hit START MUXING - this will create a new copy and you can delete the old one (unless you want to give back and keep seeding it for a while).

Ah, OK, many thanks for the help and your work on this project as a whole!

Hey,

I’m new here. First off this is awesome! Harmy’s Version looks amazing, I’ve tried downloading it with no success. Is there anywhere or anyone who’s selling his versions that I can get hard copies?
If they can be shrinked to DVDs that would be even better.

Thanks,

Nope. If you find someone, please let us know so that we can shut them down.
