My money is on the adventures of the Enterprise J in the 26th century. That way they stay in the prime universe, but are far enough away from the previous shows, (the way TNG was from TOS) to be a fresh take on things.

They’ll find a way for Data or Q to show up of course. 😉

B4 you mean? Data bit the dust.

On a side note, I still firmly believe that movie was solid, if a bit strange.

So the new show probably explains why CBS didn’t want to pick up Renegades. And I thought it was because they thought Renegades sucked 😃

He “backed up” his memories into B4 though. B4 essentially had become Data (and a Captain) in the comics depicting the events leading up to the 2009 film.

Ah. I was not aware of the comics. I was aware that he backed up his memories into B4, but I was under the impression that his circuitry wasn’t complex enough to fully support it. I took it to be more like an interactive computer with data’s memories in files and folders than an actual Data. But like I said I’m only going by what’s actually revealed in the movie.

I think it’s implied it took some time for B4’s brain to adapt and Data’s personality to emerge.

I suppose it’s too much to hope that we might finally get remasters of the first six movies that actually look decent and maybe even the director’s cuts for the 50th anniversary? Yeah, it is.

I would say the chances are pretty good if for no other reason than the fact that the big FIVE-OH is coinciding with the debut of the new 4K blu-ray format.

Wrath of Khan has been ready to go in 4K ever since they restored it in '09, but they’ll actually need to redo the others.

The TNG movies need 4K remasters as well.

Damn, now all my blu ray discs are obsolete, and I have no equipment to play the new format : (

4K may never be more than a niche within a niche, like MUSE Lasderdiscs or D-VHS. Blu Ray isn’t going anywhere, but future releases will benefit from new 4K masters.

I think by the time Blu-ray becomes obsolete, physical media in general will be obsolete (Something I don’t think is going to happen anytime soon.).

Under normal circumstances I or someone else would put the Bunny there, but it wouldn’t be appropriate, would it?

Is that story true?

Nobody sang The Bunny Song in years…

Wikipedia has this:

He subsequently began to fly for Pan American World Airways,[13] including routes from New York to Johannesburg or Calcutta, the two longest Pan Am routes at the time.[13] A further crash occurred while he was on the Clipper Eclipse on June 18, 1947. The plane landed in the Syrian desert, and Roddenberry dragged wounded passengers out of the burning plane and led the group to get help.[14] Fourteen people died in the crash; eleven passengers needed hospital treatment, eight were unharmed.[15] He resigned from Pan-Am on May 15, 1948, and decided to pursue his dream of writing particularly for the new medium of television

Yes and no. The truth is that the plane crashed and Roddenberry and the passangers survived. The question is how much was he responsible for their rescue, it really depends on who you ask.

I think Gene’s life would make for an interesting bio pic.
