Why not… do both?

Getting the store shut down (which would probably happen sooner) would possibly cause him to transfer his assets out of the paypal account.

Anyway, in case it isn’t obvious to someone out there: just please don’t try to shut him down by contacting Disney or the MPAA or publicizing his bullshit. I’m sure Disney/MPAA would be the most swift way of ending this, but that’s not the kind of attention/association we want with the things he is unjustly selling.

I can’t see it. What’s the cover? If it’s one of mine, I’m going to sue them!

Good luck with that.

Well it’s not one of mine, so whatever.

None of them are yours, even the ones you made.

You suing over a cover would be like Harmy suing someone selling his restorations.

Frink, I’m going to sue you for suing the vibe of this thread.

Sorry if this has been asked before but is there any difference in video and audio quality between the MKV (17.8 Gb) and the AVCHD version (7.9 Gb) Why would somebody chooce the 17.8 Gb over the 7.9 Gb ? Thank you in advance and sorry if this has been asked before.

Yes, there is a difference. There is also several more audio tracks. I wish I could explain more, but

a. there are people more qualified
b. I should be in bed by now.

Nobody sang The Bunny Song in years…

Basically just compression differences. I haven’t watched the AVCHD version but I can’t imagine it would come close to the MKV version. If you want a physical copy and don’t have a bku ray burner, it’s the way to go.

Things are understandably a bit esoteric on this site so I hope this is the right place to ask but I’m trying to obtain mailed blu-ray copies of Harmy’s Despecialized Editions of the 3 original films.

I’m perfectly willing to pay for the cost of the discs and shipping via PayPal or sending blank discs with prepaid postage, and I do own the special edition blu-ray edition.

I’d like to introduce my seven year old to Star Wars the same way I experienced it. I’ve steered my son’s geeky interests to comic books and Batman and away from Star Wars because I was so disgusted with the prequels and annoyed/bothered by what was done with the blu-ray release that I’ve never shown it to him. He is really excited about The Force Awakens and I want him to have “the back story.”

I’d appreciate a PM from anyone who could fulfill this request.

For anyone trying to play this on PS4’s media player, here’s the best solution I know of. Download the MKV version (the AVCHD may work as well, but I didn’t try it). Get ffmpeg if you don’t already have it on your computer, and then do the following command:

ffmpeg -i Star.Wars.Despecialized.Edition.v2.5.mkv -map 0:0 -map 0:1 -c:v copy -c:a ac3 -b:a 640K SW_PS4.mkv

Put SW_PS4.mkv onto an exFAT USB drive (FAT32 doesn’t support files over 4GB), in a directory (mine was called PS4, but I think any name is fine). Now you should be good to go!

Note that this file only has the 6 channel audio track, but you will be able to hear it just fine even if you only have a 2 speaker setup or headphones. Even in stereo this track sounds better than the actual theatrical stereo track in the original file. The video quality is identical to the original file, but the audio quality is downgraded from DTS-HD to Dolby Digital (just like the AVCHD version). Chances are your audio setup doesn’t really support HD audio anyway, so you won’t hear a difference. Still sounds great.

I apologize in advance if I’m not able to reply to questions. Thanks to Harmy and the whole OT preservation community for making all this possible.

A single layer Blu-Ray version of this project with higher bitrate video and lossless audio options is going to come out as well. It may take some time to author the BD however, because it will contain various extras and animated menu, which are not finished yet.

I have been trying to find out if this version mentioned in the original post was ever finished. I have been looking through the forum as best I can but have not found any other mention of it.

I’m new to the forum and apologize if I am posting this in the wrong place, but does anyone know if this Blu-ray version was finished?

That BD version? No. But the current MKV is a BD version, it just doesn’t have the animated menus. You just have to burn it to a BD.

Thanks. I was really interested in the idea of the bonus features and the animated menus. I was planning on making some discs and wanted to see if those were available before moving forward.

As I said, I am knew to the forum and just wanted to say that everyone here is awesome. I love how open everyone is with their creations. Not only the Despecialized editions but the also all the DVD covers.
It is great to see fellow fans being awesome to each other.

I’m about to watch the trilogy with my Japanese buddy who has never seen any of the films.

I got my hands on a copy of Harmy’s version, and it has Japanese audio, but he would prefer Japanese subtitles. When I checked out the Japanese sub file, there was very little text in there. Doesn’t look like the complete movie. Could anyone help me find a complete Japanese sub file for A New Hope? Or even the whole trilogy? (Don’t know if this issue pervades through the other two films or not.)

I sent you a link to an updated version of Project Threepio. At the time SW DeEd 2.5 was released, complete Japanese subtitles were only available in graphical form. Now there’s text files for Star Wars and Empire–Jedi is still being worked on. However, the best format is graphical (it’s just large, that’s all), so you should be all set for the complete trilogy.

Downloading now. I frequently show popular American films to Japanese students at my university, and it just feels wrong introducing them to Star Wars with the 3D Jabba scene and Greedo shooting first. lol

This is really going to come in handy. Thank you very much!

I just watched the Despecialized Editions of Star Wars, and Empire. You can really feel the love and care that went into this project. I just want to say thank you to Harmy, and everyone else that was involved in restoring these films.

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get the AVCHD file of ROTJ. I went to tehPARADOX and the other films have both MKV and AVCHD but ROTJ only has an m2ts file. If I understand it correctly m2ts is essentially the Blu-ray file.

Am I able to burn m2ts to a DVD + R DL disc like I would an ISO file? Or is it only for blu rays?

Either way though if anyone knows a source I could go to for the AVCHD and MKV of ROTJ I would appreciate it.

It’s not just an m2ts file - it should be a complete AVCHD folder structure - you can burn this to DVD9 and it should work in BD players.

Thanks this really helps. I thought I was just supposed to burn the video file to the disc and so I got confused when two showed ISO and the other as m2ts. I think I should be able to get it now. I will find out when my discs come in and I have the opportunity to burn a copy.

Thanks Again Harmy

Where is the link to download?

If you can’t take one minute to read the first post of the thread, then you clearly don’t deserve the project now, do you?

Seriously if you just joined the forum to get a download link and have nothing to contribute, then please leave. I mean, it’s bad enough you couldn’t take a couple minutes of searching to figure out how to get it on your own (I mean seriously, I just looked by googling “harmy despecialized torrent” and found it within seconds) but then you feel entitled enough to very rudely ask where “the link to download” is.
