You been busy? 😉
You been busy? 😉
Sorry, I couldn’t figure out a good move, then the migration, then a little distaste with the new forum software (no offense if you’re reading this, Jay–it just takes getting used to), on top of a busy week. My apologies.
Not a whole lot of good options. Truth be told, I’m tempted to resign already. But I’ll stick it out for a bit.

I’ll forgive you. 😉 I appreciate that you’re still willing to keep playing. As I’m sure you know by now, I just don’t feel I’ve won until I declare checkmate, or am very close to doing so.

Sorry, but I’ve got your rooks on 7h and 4i. I double checked your moves, and that’s where they should be.
That is of course correct. Even on my board I made the right move, just mistyped it. I meant R-h.
You know, I know Jay’s unhappy about people complaining, but I’m having a really hard time enjoying the site as is. I know there are suggestions flying, but I wonder if I might be better at responding if we use a different format to exchange moves. Maybe keep an eye out for an online game play by email type site or something.
If it’s the size of everything that’s bugging you, go to “View” in the menu bar. Under “Zoom,” check off “Zoom text only” and then zoom out of the page. I’m not sure if that works outside of Firefox, but it is much easier to read everything that way.

It’s not just the font. It really annoys me how hard it is simply to tell that a post has been made recently.

Yeah, I miss being able to see who made the last post and when. In case you haven’t noticed, though, a white bar appears beside threads which have been posted in since you last read them.

I didn’t notice the white bar. Thanks for pointing it out.
So I’m very doomed at this moment, but I feel obliged to continue for your enjoyment.

There’s nothing better I can do.
Well, there were other things you could do, but I guess you’d first have had to know my next couple of moves.

I hardly log in on my computer anymore and hardly take the time to post, so it might be best to end this quickly. I’ve clearly lost.

I could probably checkmate you in a few turns, so if you want to resign at this point, I won’t complain.
I think I will then. You played well and I poorly. In the past you might have missed my mistakes but no more. You have certainly moved up in the shogi ranks 😃
Haha, thanks. Hopefully we’ll have more opportunities to play in the future, when we’re both less busy…
So, since only Ric and Frink ever click on this thread, and since only Ric actually cares about the posts I make, I will address this post to RicOlie_2, my not so young friend. How old are you at this point? Time really flies! You must be like 17 now, eh?
Anyway, I finally broke down and purchased a real shogi set.
I had a homemade crappy set with foamboard for the board and bakeable clay for pieces, with the intial for the name and an illustration of the movement. It was ugly but serviceable. Well, this new board is nice, and I’ve taught a patient on my floor in the hospital how to play. He really has enjoyed it. He also sucks big time.
It’d be fun to play you again sometime. I know I am busy, but one of these days I would like to try another game. Perhaps we can do it via PM to avoid clunking up Off Topic, or maybe we can even use the software to play in more real time. I’ve thought about it and I doubt it will cause an issue.
I click on the thread!

I click on the thread!
Then you should learn to play!

Nice to see you around! Not that I’ve been spending much time here lately either. I am indeed 17, which still doesn’t feel very old, but it’s getting too close to real life…
I’ve got a lot going on right now, but in a month or so, I’ll probably have a lot more time to spare.
