Superhero and comedy cartoons are great, but they're way overdone. There aren't many good true scifi cartoons on TV right now. Even stuff like FullMetal Alchemist is more fantasy than anything.

And I know there's cowboy bebop, but it frankly bores me.

Agreed. Although some people were turned-off to its downbeat ending, which I thought fit well within the whole tone and feel of the series.

About Cowboy Bebop... It was more the characters. I just found them annoying, and with annoying charactrers, even 'good' shows become boring.

Plus I can't figure out why the heck there's a girl named Edward.. And why she refers to herself in third person.

Her real name is Françoine, it is said in episode 24. She just called herself "Edward Pepewhatever the 4th". She had clear signs of insanity, so that's why she acted and talked that way.

I think the characters in the anime were brilliantly built, with a real history and emotional background behind each of them...

Yes, and that is exactly what set Bebop apart from the other CN shows, you actually cared about the characters.

CN? As in, Cartoon Network? Hmn, I think I know what the problem might be... English dub, violence and sex scenes being cut...

That might be a factor, though I did watch the whole series in Japanese when it came out on DVD.

I don't remember sex scenes either, it might have been because I bought the R1 Bandai released set.

I don't remember how many times I tried to watch the show. Just everytime the characters annoyed me with the way they seem like they're all antiheros, plus the bad voice acting prevalent in anime.

Bebop IMO has the best voice acting around.

When I said "english dub and sex scenes", I mean that ocidental TV stations usually cut both from animes. But there was some nude scenes on episodes... 13 I think.

Well there's a big difference between nudity and a sex scene.

Although the MPAA doesn't seem to think so.

Yes, but I meant that stations at this side of the globe usually cut both violence and sex scenes from EVERY anime.
