I'm not sure: we would possibly get better composited special effects (which would stand better with the new incoming trilogy), but then would we be ever able to see the originals ever again? :\

Well, that's pretty much what the SE should've been in the first place. Instead it ended up more revision than restoration.

What we want is a high quality preservation of the OOT exactly as it was.

Yeah. And Legacy is it! Too bad we won't ever get to see it!

Ol’ George has the GOUT, I see.

For an effect shot, the original negative is the first generation copy of the finished shot, which would be in the assembled negative cut, not the individual elements - those are the original negative of the individual elements but not of the shot.

You never know that. No need to be so defeatist.

What’s the internal temperature of a TaunTaun? Luke warm.

Unless you're Stanley Kubrick on 2001, in which case, every element is shot on the same piece of film.

I believe they did this with Blade Runner as well.

That is correct. slightly different techniques though.

Oh, got it! He’s getting the Criterion Collection to release it! Is that what it is?

I read that comment and I thought it was confirmed. I frantically scrolled up in the thread to see if Mike said that and my hopes were dashed. I was so excited.

Congrats on finishing your project Mike!

I have to admit though I feel like I just watched the last firework go off and now it’s time to just go home 8-(

Hey Mike… super curious to know what you think of everything happening right now and of course, the new flick… give us your two cents, Captain. Looking forward to it.

Very much looking forward to hearing what you thought of TFA as well, Mike 😃

I don’t think he was planning on seeing it unless people he trusts tell him it’s something really special.

But yes, I am curious too. For reasons I won’t go into, I could see him either being quite pleasantly surprised or he could absolutely hate it. 😃

I’m sure his kid is dying to see it!

I have a feeling that Mike was pleasantly surprised.

He said he would be busy with work stuff until sometime next year and that he wasn’t planning on seeing the film.

Mike isn’t a fan of the Star Wars franchise, he’s a fan of the 1977 film titled “Star Wars”.

WTF

I had no plans to see the film either, but I’ll likely end up going with my kid sometime, assuming it’s still in theatres by the time we get around to it. I’m probably a little more enthusiastic than Mike, though.

Last warning.

Calm down chief, I was replying to a post above your ‘warnings’ before I even saw what you put.

As for not knowing when to stop, I think you have me confused with someone else.

It was a general warning for people to stay on topic. And my reply to mverta was not referring to you.

Moderator warnings ought to be taken seriously in any case.

Dude called you “chief” … LOL. I about spit my coffee all over the screen. Some weird things happen round these parts.

😉
