As for a figure to guide Luke, it was explicitly established that after he was “struck down” by Vader, that Obi Wan would become “more powerful”, and this is manifest as he continues to speak to the young Skywalker, as a disembodied voice, at crucial moments. So, it would make sense, and also remain in continuity, for Obi Wan to keep guiding Luke in such a manner.
