Money matters not.

Only how angry the fan's are determines Lucas' sucsess.

That didn't matter with the prequels

Sounds better with Joe Pesci saying it.
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

Well... yeah. That goes without saying.

Things I hate: Scorcese's recent movies. DiCaprio? Is he insane? Where is DeNiro and Pesci, cursing and violently beating people?

DeNiro is cooing babies in the back of a massive Winnebago and/or crying in a psychologist's office. I don't think I could ever take DeNiro seriously again. He's ruined his Scorsese-era image. There's no going back.

What, you mean you didn't like Rocky & Bullwinkle?

Seriously though, that movie would've been so much better if DeNiro had been able to go with his original plans for Boris and Natasha: Joe Pesci and Cher.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Despite actually watching the filming of one scene of the movie (the river jump) which was filmed here in Chicago, I have never come close to watching that movie. Never wanted to. Don't think I ever will.

And I agree that Pesci and Cher would be ideal casting. Why did that fall through?

It was either money or scheduling conflicts. the usual Hollywood story. Personally, I think DeNiro should have waited until Pesci and Cher were available, or paid them the extra dough; it really would have made a difference in this case.

I still have NO idea why DeNiro worked on that movie. It COULDN'T be for the money... Perhaps a drunk bet? I mean, that's why Hoffman did "Hook" and George C Scott did every movie he did after 1980.

Like the new version of The Manchurian Candidate? Just watched that the other night and I think it sucked by comparison to the original. God the original is incredible... even today.

I agree, the new one just doesn't even come close to matching the original.

Hollywood is pretty much dead. All they do now is crappy remakes and crappy comic book adaptations. And now they want to kill anime too. Apart from some good independent or semi-independent movies, good movies are rare, very rare.

I don't mind remakes if they either improve upon the original (which occasionally happens, such as Reservoir Dogs) or take it in a new direction. Such as the new Manchurian Candidate. Now, it was not as good as the original, but I rather liked the updated plot that dealt with corporations, etc. I also liked Liev Schrieiber, as Laurence Harvey was a bit wooden, and his English accent kept getting more and more apparant as the film went on.

The new Willy Wonka looks good too, as it's going to follow the novel more (the title will now be "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory").

Gentlemen, you can’t fight in here, this is the war room!
