DING DING DING!

This thread is over and DanielB is the default winner. Please cease and desist all forms of disagreement with DanielB and succumb to his opinion in this matter. Any of you failing to do so shall be taunted mercilessly.

Please refer to this source for more info.

- And without a MOD here to end this the proper way I say...

LET LOOSE THE DOGS OF WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is a WEAK way to end any thread and internet sminternet rules do not applie to STAR WARS - so screw being "P.C." it's no fun till someone cries!

Why?

Right now out there in the "real" world..........

there are a bunch of kids, all some poseur ass FANBOY'S (and Girls too - all most likely 30+ years old - but still a kids) in their mom's basement (parents house in general) POUNDING his (or her) head on their wall desperately concocting some half witted retort and coming up with new (ideas swiped from other forums posted by other net losers) and stupid ways to insult, anger and beguile TRUE and REAL fans in general SO THAT they will in turn feel superior to those that he (or she) will never see face-to-face and all of this is done only to elevate their ego. (BAD attention is better then NO attention) it's kinda like the "ME BAD-ASS" syndrome - this is where one BELIEVES themself to be an "Alpha" when they are really only "charismatic" and intelligent so therefore have been able to ascent into "power" through selfish and petty deceit. To achieve this end (becoming an "Alpha" Leader) the "JERK/DICK" in question will befriend the biggest and NOT-SO-BRIGHTEST in a particular social group (Jock's, Cholo's, Gang Banging G's, Skinheads and Republicans) and though "IMPLIED" threat via boisterous and wreckless behaviour soon they become a "leader" of such a group and will "beat-down" any opposition. BUT remove this alleged "Alpha" from his (or her) "Pack" and knock them from their self-made pedestal and you will (MOST of the time) find a weak and feeble outcast that yerns for greatness and glory.

Remember the end of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back?

AND anyway why keep bringing up Nazi's in ANY argument when "Right Wing Christian Republicans" would be more apt - right? (come on it's 2005 and we have more "shady" 21st century icon now)

See how far things can go without a mod?

(This post IS not directed at anyone person - SO don't take it that way and cry )

I would like to remind everyone that DanielB chased off Laserman and Zion and should be ignored and denied ANY completed products.

"No, he said I stop him from having fun doing the project. That's probably true, and I am sorry. But I'm not the one who decided the project should stop, heck I love the project as much as you do - just not for quite the same reason."

It would never have to this, if it weren't for your behavior on these boards. In fact, from now on, I'm going to call you DenialB, as it aptly describes you, and helps differentiate you from the good Daniel.

For what it's worth Laserman, I have probably gotten around 50-100 emails regarding my DVD project since I began making regular updates back in October. In the past few weeks, I've gotten a lot of emails from people who can't wait to see the results of the X0 project. I just want you to know that there ARE poeple out there who care and want to see this project completed. I understand if it isn't in your heart anymore to work on this. I just hope that that doesn't keep the project closed for those of us who wish to continue where you left off.

Sorry I haven't been around lately, the holidays tend to do that for a lot of us as someone posted above. I'm not gone, and I don't plan on going anywhere anytime soon. My project will continue to it's completion, regardless of what the naysayers say. I would encourage everyone else who has doubts and is thinking of leaving to seriously re-consider. We have worked hard to make this a place where we can objectively discuss each other's projects and learn from each other. Sure, it has hit a bit of a lul the past couple of months, but that doesn't mean we should just give up on it.

DanielB, you know why things have taken a turn for the worse around here. You've taken on the role of forum troll and have successfully launched almost every thread you've touched into a downward spiral. How do you not see this? How can you sit there refuse to take the blame for these "dark times" of late? Seriously man, I know you've got an opinion, but don't go turning people's project threads into damn flame fest.

Again Laserman, thanks for all you've done in the persuit of OT preservation. You've done more than any of us here have, and probably ever will. I can only hope that you allow the rest of us to continue where you left off.

[X0 Project]
[Backstroke of the West DVD]

Someone said it and i dont remember if it was in this thread or not, let alone who. But I think that the supporters have been relativly silent and thats unfortunate. I know I have, and thats mainly because really have nothing to offer as far as knowledge in this field, but I am willing, like many others, to pledge donations just tell me how and where. But we have come to take this for granted, but that doesnt mean it isnt greatly appreciated. I've been looking forward to the completion of Mebe's and Zion's projects as well as the others. Then I saw this and was like wow, its gonna be even better. So like Zion said, there is tons of interest and support for what you guys are doing, even if the supporters arent as vocal as the naysayers (isnt that always the case).

Like i said, i have no knowledge as far as video capture/edting goes, but am in the market for a video card and plan to do some captures in the future (possibly of star wars, but also of some vhs and other laserdiscs i have) and when i do get around to do them, this will be my primary source of how to go about that because the work done on here has just blown me away

So to all the people who have thrown so much time into these projects, keep up, it is appreciated and it does inspire others to do similar.

Laserman:

Dont think that only 3 people want this project to happen. If you completed this project you would be truly preserving the Original Star Wars Trilogy at the best quality we have ever seen and probably will ever see, and you would be making over 67,000 people very happy. Surely that is more important than one guys comments.

In the end do what makes you happy, your efforts on this forum are immensely appreciated.

Ditto what Darth Balls and others have said!

I read here only sporadically, because I have no advice to offer, so I did not even know you were looking for financial help. I do know that your contributions to this forum and the various preservation projects has been ginormous. I think that all the hard work you've done, as well as the guidance you've given to some of the other folks making their own projects, has been very, very much appreciated by everyone here (minus one I guess).

The unfiltered, un-retouched screenshots I've seen from the X0 blow away even the best of the other tweaked captures. For a movie I've purchased more times than I care to remember, I was insanely anxious to see this project followed through on. For your own sake, I say make whatever choice is right for you. For the rest of us, I sure hope you find a way to rediscover the fun in finishing this project.

Thanks to everyone for their kind words and feedback. Glad to see some changes made here that will help this be a fun place to hang out again.

I did a lot of thinking over the past few weeks, (and talking with the family) and have almost convinced myself to get back on the horse and re-instate the X0 project as a happening thing. But it is going to take some preparation and some organising...

Sooo..... Stay tuned for an announcement in the next couple of weeks, it should be a good one!

Cheers

Laserman.

Well, I figured I was being rather childish in my leaving, and now that I see the asshole in question seems to be gone and Laserman is back, I figured I'd come back.

Thank you so much for reconsidering, Laserman! If I can in any way help out I will gladly do so, however I probably won't be able to donate much if any money. Anything I can do I gladly will do to help out.

I'm wondering if anybody out there who recieves lot's of e-mail for a particular project would think it a good idea to send out a broadcast message for a funds request on Laserman's XO project???

Uh oh, Denial's back^^^^^^ ( )

Broadcast where, and to whom?

BTW, there is something in the works to make this possible.

You mean send out a mass email right? I wouldn't be opposed to it, but I'm not going to give out the long list of email addresses I have of people asking about my project. Since most people emailing me are only concerned about how much it would cost them to get a set, what I could do is send out an email letting everyone know of the current state of things, a link to Laserman's site, and an invitation to make a PayPal donation to the X0 project. I've thought about even putting a PayPal link up on my site about it.

That would be a great idea about putting a link on your site to donate through paypal. Thats how I donate on Myspleen.net, just click the link and your there, makes it EASY for ANYONE to donate.

Better yet, maybe you'll get a chance to make one for your 16th birthday.

Wow, I just read this entire thread for the 1st time and, wow. Laserman, I really hope you continue your project and I'd want to get your discs when (if) they become available. Make sure it's fun for you (and fun to learn new things) to continue this project. Like you said, if it's no fun, it's usually the time to quit. Anyway, hopefully you'll be continuing your project and we'll get the discs soon enough! Keep up the great work.

I want you to know, I fully support your efforts Laserman. I look forward to seeing how this project turns out. I believe Mr. Lucas has blinded himself to his fans' perspective and we will therfore have a hard time getting a good official master of this important bit of theatrical and world history. You seem to have good playback and capturing equipment and your knowledge of video seems more than sufficient by what you say. Your method comes across very sound and I highly anticipate having a good quality OT master just for fans. I'll help however I can, if I can.
