I actually never had anything against the ewoks either. And one of the things that upset me about the special editions (which i didnt mind as much as some people, but i still think the DVD should have the original version on it as an option, even if it was an easter egg) was the removal of Yub Nub.

The way i see it, first off, i dont not like the music of the new one, i just prefer Yub Nub. I dont think that the music fits with whats going on in the scene. For instance, there is one part where an ewok is playing the drums on some of the helmets (stormtrooper, imperial scout, death star trooper i believe) the original music had a part that coincided with this (at least from my recollection).

The other thing, I saw the celebrations on the other planets as wierd. They just blew up the death star, the heros basically land on endor and theirs not much time before they have this celebration (a few hours max) Ok, i understand they have advanced communication chains because their technology is beyond ours, but...its a rebellion, most of the bases are gonna be hidden...not to mention that just about all of their forces are were at this battle, so who would they really be telling, and who are all these people celebrating. Most of the people back at these cities are probably indifferent to the rebellion and just want to go on with their everyday lives, sure they may not like the empire, but they'd rather not get killed over it.

finally, I've always seen it as a celebration on endor. the Yub Nub song is a 'tribal' ewok song...some song of happiness and rejoicing...so unlike most movie music, its something that the people in the movie are actually hearing (and the ewoks are actually singing it).

thats pretty much why i like Yub Nub better and why i feel the ending should have stayed on endor and not been celebrations on all the other planets.
