A second after I posted I remember it was ZITS and not ZIPS. So forget the little joke.
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

The problem here in the States is that these big chain video stores have put nearly all the homegrown, mom-n-pop video stores out of business. These smaller stores are the ones that would likely carry obscure titles like this. Hollywood and Blockbuster have pitiful selections of obscure and foreign titles. That's why I love Netflix. I can usually find obscure and foreign flicks there. But not this one.

This is starting to happen over here, too. Until about 4 or 5 years ago, there were almost no huge videostores like blockbuster (there were a few), every videostore was small and run by families and something, really "clerks" like... I used to rent movies in a place run by my former grade school teacher. And you could find some really obscure films such as "Traces of Death", and some weird foreign films. But now they are all being destroyed by those huge videostores filled with crappy movies, with 14 year old attendents with more zips than a post office.

And yes sean wookie I think I am.

i seen you write something on traces of death

Yes, pretty much what I've written here.

Is that sarcasm?
"I don't mind if you don't like my manners. I don't like them myself. They're pretty bad. I grieve over them during the long winter evenings."

You guys forgot one of the most infamous films ever made: 1980's Caligula (unrated version), which has been described as the most expensive porn film ever made. From what I understand, Helen Mirren wouldn't have been in the film if she had known of the hardcore sex scenes that were filmed seperately by Bob Guccione with the "other" actors. Another controversial film is Requiem for a Dream by Darren Aronofsky. If you haven't checked this out, you should, but be warned that it is extremely graphic and disturbing, which is what I love about it. Make sure you get the unrated director's cut.

Uma Thurman and that genetically altered guy...

It was just another movie preaching against discrimination, replacing normal 'differences' like race or cash flow with 'genetically altered or not'
not really controversial.

Pseudo-porn movies? Yes "Caligula" is one... And how about "Last Tango in Paris", and Bernardo Bertolucci's "1900"...

What was that movie that is universally hated... Show Girlz or whatever... ?

Was that controversial? I wouldn't know, because I didn't have the internet in 1995.

The most disturbing part of that is that by the logic of the rating system, I'm legally old enough to rent/buy it...

Didn't it get a razzie?

Ok, here's a good controversial movie, one I have to see someday: Chaplin's "The Great Dictator".
