Except I'm seeing this as more of a Raiders of the Lost Ark and Star Wars colliding. It looks like the Death Star, yes. But much like the "engraving" of the headpiece to the Staff of Ra that was burned into Toht's hand, the equator is the reverse of the Death Star and they likely don't have the other half of the moon "correct" as a result.

Jedi Mystic - "The markings on dis half of the Death Star says dat the Rebel Base is located near Yavin-6. But dis side says to take back 2 for the great Wookiee Life Day Celebration."
Indiana Jones - "Sallah, you said the Death Star that the Empire built only has an equator on one side, right?"
Sallah - "Yes. Why?"
Indiana - "They only have half the message!"
Sallah and Indiana together - "They're going to destroy the wrong moon!"
