DHL's even worse; they took over Loomis in Canada, and Loomis defined fragile as "let's see how much abuse we can heap on this sucker before it breaks."

On the topic of collectibles, a coworker just walked in my office and put a box Sigma ROTJ Biker Scout coffee mug on it. It's an original box (albeit a little beat up), the mug may need some cleaning, but it still has the original swingtag in excellent condition. He said he's had it laying around for a while after finding it some years back at a garage sale. Said I can just have it because he knows I would like it. It's copyrighted 1983.

Nice. Just don't use it.

I've got the C-3PO one still in his box, also Copyright 1983.

Most Prized...hard to pick

- Could be the stuff I saved from when I was a member of the Fan Club (Banthatracks newsletters, couple patches, posters, I even have a couple renewal forms).
- Could be the Hildebrant movie posters rolled up in my basement.
- Could be my relatively rare POTF-edition Jabba's Dungeon (a Sears exclusive)
- Could be my newest item...a new poster.
You know those posters they used to hang in school libraries that said "Read" and pictured a famous athlete, author, celebrity, etc. Well, my mom works in a school, and she found and laminated a 1983 "Read" poster sporting Yoda.

Hmm, I just have a "Read" poster with William Shatner on it.

I have a bunch of figures and sets, but I don't know which are the rarest.

The vintage 1985 POTF stuff is some of the rarest. By then, Star Wars mania was winding down and Kenner was beginning to push the envelope as far as new toys.
(Making toys for stuff that never appeared anywhere, mini-rigs are the best example of this).

If you go to www.toysrgus.com, they archive a LOT of information about vintage Star Wars toys.

The original 90 or so action figures, uncarded, with weapons and the starwars marvel comics, maybe missing 4 or 5 of the earliest issues but have all the rest as originals.

The only other thing I have from the early 80s are the ROTJ glasses from Burger King, which my mom got when they came out(I've got duplicates of each, and they're in really good condition) and a vintage Han Solo and Lando Calrissian that I found at a yard sale.

I may have a new favorite...
Its another poster, but my problem is that I have no idea if its a re-issue or not.

Would a re-issue poster have a more current copyright date than 1979 (or at least, more than one copyright date)??
Author
Time
Not likely. An official reissue poster might have a new date. But the likelihood of ever seeing LFL "reissue" posters, I would think, is pretty slim. So anything else you see out there is a copy of the original. So it would contain the original copyright date and all that jazz. We did have a site linked here some time ago that gave a checklist of things to look out for to determine if a poster is real or a copy. That site has long since been relegated to Internet oblivion.

No, it was a page on this forum that was removed over a year ago due to space issues. Wouldn't even have an idea how to find the URL. With how forum software develops random URLs, it's not one that would likely be mentally memorable.

I have an original 1977 Star Wars poster given to my dad by one of the choreography/stunt guys on the movie. He's the same dude who is driving the tank in Goldeneye while Pierce Brisnan sticks his head out and pretends he's driving it. Anyway, my Dad works in a hospital hear in London and got chatting to him while he was in for surgery and mentioned I was a big fan - nice one.

Also, my TIE inteceptor limited edition VHS box set of the original versions, digitally remastered for picture quality but no crappy CGI. Actually, I'd like to know the value of that (not that I would ever sell it). Does anybody have any idea??

I've also got a carded ROTJ Darth Vader figure from 1983 signed by Dave Prowse...But that guy will sign anything. Does he wear the suit in Episode 3? Bet he's pissed if they got someone else.

One more thing - a full set of 6 foot tall AOTC posters that were displayed at British bus stops. Before the movie came out they were pretty sought after, but I'm not so sure any more - kinda like that Episode 1 issue of Vanity Fair that was worth about $50 before the film came out but aint worth sh*t now.

Amazing how value can be influenced by perception, ain't it?

Thats some cool stuff you got there. As for the TIE Interceptor box set. Its value is whatever you can sell it for. Not trying to sound condescending or anything but, in all honesty its value is what would be deemed a reasonable price and what it can be 'commonly' sold for. Thats how pricing guides work. So what would you pay for it now? Also though, since you wont sell it, alot of its value becomes sentimental, so it may be worth more to you than someone that would make an offer to buy it from you.

And as to your earlier comment, Hayden plays Vader in EpIII, not Prowse.

Yeah, but I meant who wears the suit? Is it Hayden? Is he tall enough? I met Dave Prowse and he was pretty damn tall. Peter Mayhew is back as chewie, so I just thought.... Oh well, whatever, Prowse will be pissed. I bet he was counting on that job so he could get out of the convention circuit for a while.

I'd have to say that my prized collectible is my Jawa's Sand Crawler that I bought from Sears back in 1978.

It is radio controlled, moves forwards and backwards, left and right.

I have it displayed with my Star Wars collection.

That's not quite the same thing though, Sessler. I read a review of the new Sandcrawler on MWCtoys.com. It's just a playset and doesn't even have wheels. Quite an undersized playset at that.

The original was actually a remote control toy. Didn't have any opening hatches as I recall. So you couldn't really use any figures or whatnot with it. Had one of those old RC whip antennas on the top of it. A friend of mine had it. Pretty cool.

Oh, I guess I didn't read down farther in that one. The remote control one sounds pretty cool anyway.

I have the shitty remote control R2-D2 that was released in the mid 90's. I beleive it only went forward and when you went backwards it turned. Im pretty sure there was another one released that was a bit bigger but also better designed...I always wanted it but never got it, i should see if i can find one somewhere and pick it up.
